The flapper is the movable flap at the grounds outlet. It opens while grinding and closes as soon as the flow stops. As long as it is soft and flexible, no grounds stay stuck in the channel between two doses and nothing trickles onto the work surface.
Over time, the material hardens. The flap then no longer closes completely, leftover grounds drop out with a delay, and your dosing becomes inconsistent – of all things on the Atom, which people buy for its consistency.
When grounds visibly keep falling after grinding. When the flapper is torn, hardened or deformed. When it no longer returns to its starting position by itself. And when your target weight varies more from dose to dose than it used to, without anything else having changed.

For anyone who doses by weight with an Atom Excellence or an Atom W and sees every tenth of a gram. And for businesses that would rather replace a wear part during servicing than wipe down the counter every morning.
We carry the matching grinders as the Atom Excellence 65 and the Atom 65W Grind by Weight. For cleaning the channel, see machine and grinder cleaning. You will find more parts under Eureka and under Coffee grinder accessories and spare parts.
Before we replace a flapper, we briefly hold a phone with its torch on under the grounds outlet and run the grinder empty. You can see straight away whether the flap really closes or only pretends to. That is our routine from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. For dialling in afterwards, we use Nutty Delight, for chocolatey notes Cozy Chocolate and for body Very Nutty. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the appliance. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
This part is intended for the Atom Excellence and the Atom W. Send us the serial number of your grinder and we will check the fit for your version.
Usually yes – the flapper sits in the area of the grounds outlet, which you reach for cleaning anyway. Disconnect the grinder from the mains first.
That depends on the volume and the roast. Oily beans noticeably shorten its service life.
This item is the flapper only. We stock the complete grounds outlet separately for other model series.
