On a lever machine, the mechanism is the interface. The barista pulls, the spring is tensioned, the piston moves – and the hand feels everything in this chain that has play. A worn bushing turns a precise pull into a wobble, and then the shot is no longer reproducible either.
This bushing has a bore of 9 millimetres, an outer diameter of 15 millimetres and a length of 25 millimetres. The manufacturer lists it for the LEVA under part number F.1.088. One bushing is supplied, without axle and without retaining parts.
The lever has lateral play or drops into nothing for a moment at the start. There is a metallic crack or grinding when pulling. The lever travel feels uneven. Or the removed bushing has an oval bore, scoring or fretting rust.

The bushing sits on the lever group, i.e. on a pressurised and mechanically preloaded assembly. That is why we do not give step-by-step instructions: the machine must be disconnected from the power, depressurised and cooled down, the spring force released, and nothing may tilt when pressing it in. A lever spring that releases is not without danger – this belongs in professional hands.
For service technicians who completely overhaul a LEVA group. For businesses with a lever machine in daily use where the bearing points are renewed as scheduled. And for anyone who has taken over a used LEVA and wants to bring the mechanism into clean condition.
All parts for the lever machine are available in Spare parts for La Marzocco LEVA, the brand at a glance in Accessories and spare parts for La Marzocco, and everything from our service stock in Service parts. When the group is open, it is the moment for machine and grinder cleaning too.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
Our own routine, not a manufacturer's specification: when we have a LEVA group open, we replace all the bushings of the lever mechanism together, not just the most obvious one. Otherwise the next one is due in six months and the group has to be opened again. For the test pull we like to use Nutty Delight, because it shows clearly whether the lever travel runs evenly again. Sweeter with Cozy Chocolate, stronger with Very Nutty. Everything else in our coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Bore 9 millimetres, outer diameter 15 millimetres, length 25 millimetres. Part number F.1.088.
That depends on the bearing point. One bushing is supplied. Tell us which assembly you are overhauling and we will tell you the quantity.
This position is listed for the LEVA. Other series have their own bushings – send us the model and serial number and we will check it.
We recommend a specialist, because a preloaded spring is involved in the lever group and the bushing must not tilt when it is pressed in.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and we will have the part ready.
