The steam tap is used for every cappuccino, often with wet hands and always in the heat. The bushing in which the tap moves works between temperature changes and limescale. Once it wears out, operation becomes imprecise: the lever wobbles, the steam can no longer be dosed finely, and at some point moisture shows at the joint.
This bushing has a bore of 37 millimetres, an outer diameter of 45 millimetres and a height of 5 millimetres. The manufacturer lists it for the steam tap of the LEVA under part number F.1.090. One bushing is supplied.
The steam tap has play or only moves jerkily. It scratches when opening and closing. Fine dosing no longer works because the travel has become stepped. Or moisture or a limescale trace is visible at the guide.

The steam tap sits on the steam boiler, i.e. at the hottest, pressurised point of the machine. We deliberately do not publish installation instructions for it: the machine must be disconnected from the power, completely free of pressure and steam and cooled down, and after reassembly it has to be tested under pressure. Escaping steam is dangerous – this is workshop work.
For service technicians who overhaul the steam tap of a LEVA. For businesses that froth a lot of milk and operate the steam hundreds of times a day. And for anyone who has taken over a used LEVA and does not want to guess when it comes to steam.
More parts for the lever machine are available in Spare parts for La Marzocco LEVA, the brand at a glance in Accessories and spare parts for La Marzocco, everything from our service stock in Service parts. Because limescale is the main enemy here, machine and grinder cleaning belongs on the same list.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
Our own routine, not a manufacturer's specification: after every milk drink we briefly purge the steam wand with steam – not only for hygiene, but because dried milk residue migrates into the guide of the tap and wears out the bushing faster. When the tap runs smoothly again, we make a cappuccino for the final check, usually with Nutty Delight, because it holds up very well in milk. More chocolatey with Cozy Chocolate, stronger with Very Nutty. Everything else in our coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Bore 37 millimetres, outer diameter 45 millimetres, height 5 millimetres. Part number F.1.090.
No, it is a guide. Seals and O-rings for the steam tap are separate positions – during an overhaul you replace both together.
Usually not directly. Dripping generally comes from the seal or the valve seat. The bushing is responsible for play and smooth running. Describe the symptom to us and we will narrow it down.
We recommend a specialist. The steam tap sits on the steam boiler, and before any work there the machine has to be made completely free of pressure and steam.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and we will have the part ready.
