The diffuser sits at the top of the group head of the Linea Mini R, where the hot water passes from the group into the portafilter. It slows the stream and spreads it across the whole surface before it reaches the coffee grounds. As long as it is clean, you do not notice it – you only see it in the shot, which starts calmly and evenly.
Over the months, scale and coffee oils build up in the fine openings. The water then takes the shortest path, the puck gets washed out on one side and the espresso turns sour or runs unevenly into the cups. Part number A.5.039.01 refers to the diffuser for the Linea Mini R.
Before you swap the part: in nine out of ten cases, the diffuser is not worn out but scaled up and clogged with coffee oils. A thorough backflush and a descaling often bring it fully back. You will find what we use for this under Machine and grinder cleaning. Only when the openings are mechanically damaged or permanently blocked is a replacement worthwhile.

For anyone who looks after a Linea Mini R at home or in a business and opens the group head anyway during a major service. If you replace the diffuser together with the group head gasket, the group is back in as-new condition in one go.
The diffuser sits in a pressurised assembly directly above the brew group. The machine must be switched off, depressurised and cooled down before the group head is opened. We deliberately do not publish step-by-step instructions for this – have the replacement done by a qualified professional or bring the machine to us.
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we follow the same routine: backflush once a week, and once a month open the group head and check the diffuser. That is our habit, not a manufacturer requirement. If you want to taste the difference after the service, use a blend with a clear centre – such as Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate. You will find all the others under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will work out the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. The Micra has its own part, which we stock separately. If in doubt, send us the serial number and we will check the fit.
It is not necessary, but it usually makes sense. If the group is open anyway, the gasket costs little and saves a second intervention.
If descaling and backflushing calm the flow again, it was scale. If it stays unsettled, the diffuser has reached the end of its mechanical life.
The part sits in a pressurised group. We recommend installation by a qualified professional.
Yes. In Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
