On the GS3, this small wheel sits on the adjuster for the tea water. You grip it with two fingers, turn it a few degrees – and the water from the hot water outlet comes out of the machine as hot again as you need it for tea or for preheating a cup. It is purely a control part: no electronics, no power, just mechanics you can get hold of.
Grip parts like this are the ones that suffer most. They are handled every day, they sit in a warm, damp corner, and at some point the mount cracks or the wheel spins freely without adjusting anything. The temperature then stays where it was last set and can no longer be corrected.
The wheel turns without the tea water temperature changing. It sits loosely on its spindle and wobbles. The mount is cracked or broken off. It got lost during a service and you want to be able to make the adjustment by hand again instead of with pliers.

For GS3 owners who adjust their tea water themselves, and for service technicians who bring a fresh control part along on a maintenance visit. The price is so low that it is worth keeping the wheel in stock as a spare if you are ordering something anyway.
You will find more parts for this machine in the La Marzocco GS3 spare parts category. Also suitable are the GS3 TEA check valve for the tea water circuit and the O-rings for the GS3 anti-vacuum valve. All service parts are in the Service parts category.
Our routine from the workshop in Bern and behind the bar in Zurich, not a manufacturer specification: we do not set the tea water to full heat, but two finger turns below. That way a black tea brews cleanly without turning bitter in the aftertaste later. And because the same machine has to pull espresso afterwards, our rule is: tea first, then a quick rinse. If you want to practise noticing the difference in the aftertaste, use a coffee with clear sweetness, such as Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or the strong Very Nutty. The full selection is under Coffee beans.
No returns
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a short message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. Only the adjustment wheel is supplied, i.e. the mechanical control part. The valve and the spindle stay in the machine.
Part number F.1.016 applies to the GS3. Because there have been changes over the years of manufacture, send us the serial number if in doubt and we will check the fit before you order.
The wheel is a control part accessible from the outside. As a rule, you need nothing more than steady hands. If you would have to open the machine for it, better give us a call first.
Then it is either the wheel spinning freely or the valve behind it. A new wheel costs little and rules out the cheapest cause. If the behaviour stays the same, the valve needs to be checked.
Yes. You will find us in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a short message and we will have the part ready for you.
