The grate that helps define the look of the GS3

On the GS3, the drip tray grate sits right at eye level with the portafilter – it's the surface your cup stands on and, at the same time, the first thing you see when you stand in front of the machine. That's why every dent and every limescale ring shows here.

It's under constant strain: hot cups, jugs set down on it, the jet from the hot water tap. Stainless steel copes with this for a long time, but not forever.

When it's due

A replacement is worthwhile if the grate is warped and wobbles on the tray, if the surface stays stained despite cleaning, if a corner is raised or bent, or if you want to freshen up the look of the machine without replacing the whole drip tray.

Who it's for

For GS3 owners who are bothered by a tired grate on an otherwise flawless machine – and for workshops that freshen up a machine before handing it over.

What goes with it

Underneath goes the GS3 drip tray, complete without grate. If you work with a scale, the drip tray grate for GS3 for the Acaia Lunar scale is the right alternative. A good visual match is the brew group cover in black walnut. Everything else under La Marzocco GS3 spare parts and Original spare parts.

Tip from our workshop

We don't remove limescale rings on the grate with steel wool, but with warm water and patience – steel wool leaves fine rust spots that later look like pitting. In Bern and Zurich, the grate goes into warm water in the evening and is wiped dry in the morning. That's our routine, not a manufacturer specification. The first shot afterwards is pulled with Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate for chocolatey notes or Very Nutty for body. All roasts under Coffee beans.

Returns excluded

Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Is the drip tray included?

No. Only the grate is supplied.

Does it also fit a Linea Mini?

No. This grate is for the GS3. The Linea Mini has its own.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

We wash it by hand. Dishwasher detergent makes stainless steel dull over time.

My grate wobbles – do I need to replace it?

First empty and clean the tray. Very often it is just a rim of coffee grounds that lifts the grate.

Can I see the part in the showroom?

Yes, in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can see it in person.
