Looking at the machine from the front, your eye always stops at the same spot: the chrome-plated hood above the brew group. That is where milk splashes every day, coffee oils creep up and the cloth wipes along. At some point the surface is dull, an edge is dented or a fixing has torn out – and the finest espresso is served in front of a tired casing.
This cover is the complete upper part of the AV brew group in chrome steel. It sits above the group head, closes off the group at the top and keeps the connections behind it out of sight and out of reach. It is supplied complete, as the manufacturer lists it under part number 940/AV.02.
The chrome plating is dull or stained and can no longer be polished. An edge is dented because a portafilter or a milk jug has knocked against it. The cover no longer sits flat and rattles during extraction. Or a fixing no longer holds, so the sheet metal shifts during cleaning.

The cover sits directly above the brew group, i.e. above hot and pressurised material. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here: the machine must be disconnected from the power and depressurised, and no line may be pinched when refitting it. Have it done by someone who services espresso machines – or bring the machine to our workshop.
For cafés whose machine stands in the guest area and where the group is part of the show. For service technicians who get a machine into shape before resale. And for anyone who has bought a used La Marzocco and wants to give the group the finishing touch.
You will find more parts in Accessories and spare parts for La Marzocco, specifically for the commercial machine in Spare parts Linea PB. All other parts from our service stock are in Original spare parts. If the cover is off anyway, it is worth taking a look at machine and grinder cleaning right away.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
This is our own routine, not a manufacturer's specification: we never wipe group covers with descaler or harsh cleaner, only with warm water and a microfibre cloth, and dry them immediately. Chrome forgives coffee oils, but not acid. After every installation we run an espresso as a check, preferably with Nutty Delight. More chocolatey with Cozy Chocolate, stronger with Very Nutty. The rest is in our coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. It belongs to the AV brew group as listed under part number 940/AV.02. Machines with a paddle or lever group have a different cover. Send us the serial number and we will tell you whether it is your part.
The scope of delivery is one complete group cover. If needed, you order screws and cover caps separately – ask us and we will look up the matching positions.
We recommend installation by a specialist, because the cover sits directly above the hot, pressurised brew group. We deliberately do not publish installation instructions for it.
Warm water, microfibre cloth, rub dry immediately. Do not use acid, descaler or abrasives on the surface.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and we will have the part ready.
