On the brew group of the GS3 MP sits a plastic ring that closes the gap between the group head and the cover. It doesn’t guide anything and holds no pressure, but it is the spot on the machine you touch most often: when knocking out the puck, when wiping, when inserting the portafilter.
And after a few years, it shows. Coffee oil and steam make the plastic dull and brittle, a crack starts at one edge, and at some point the ring starts to stick out. Then ground coffee collects in the gap where no cloth can reach any more – and any GS3 instantly looks ten years older than it is.

For GS3 owners who look after their machine and don’t want to see that one dull, cracked ring any more. A small part that makes a surprisingly big difference on a machine of this class.
On the same group head you’ll find the cover cap for the group head screw and the GS3 MP Paddle group valve. The GS3 brew group flange gasket seals across the surface. All GS3 parts are in the La Marzocco GS3 spare parts section.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We wipe the group down while it’s still warm after the last shot of the day, not the next morning. Coffee oil that dries on overnight only comes off with cleaner – and every time you scrub at it, the plastic suffers. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer specification. For dialling in afterwards we like to use Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate, and for strong milk drinks Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we’ll check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
We have number F.1.021 assigned to the GS3 MP, i.e. the paddle version. For the AV, the documentation lists a different part. Send us the serial number and we’ll check before you order.
No. The ring is a trim cover that covers a gap. Sealing is the job of the group gasket and the flange gasket.
The ring sits on the outside. Depending on the design, though, the cover above it has to be loosened, and that quickly brings you to pressurised parts. Unplug the machine and let it cool down – if in doubt, this is better left to a qualified professional.
Glue doesn’t hold in this spot. The ring gets hot and damp and is touched constantly; every glued joint will come apart again.
Yes. At Gerberngasse 44 in Bern and Hagenholzstrasse 50b in Zurich we’ll show you the ring on a GS3 in the showroom.
