Every workshop has those three or four O-ring sizes that keep turning up. This is one of them. It is made of EPDM with 70 Shore A, the material designed for hot water and steam in an espresso machine: elastic at temperature, resistant to descalers, not prone to ageing from light.
Its job is unspectacular, and that is exactly why it matters so much. It sits in a groove, is compressed when the fitting is screwed together and keeps the water where it belongs. When it stops doing that, it doesn't announce itself with a bang but with a drip, a limescale edge or a stain under the machine.
A threaded fitting sweats even though it is tight. The old ring is hard, won't stretch or has a permanent flat spot. It tears when you pull it off. Or you are opening that point anyway and replace the ring, because a used ring never seals as well as a new one.

Because these rings sit at pressurised points inside the machine, the same applies here: depressurise first, then open, and check for leaks afterwards. We don't give step-by-step instructions, because this part is listed without a fixed location. If you are not sure which threaded fitting you are holding, calling a qualified technician is quicker than trial and error.
For service companies with their own stock of seals and for anyone who reads H.1.019 in their service documentation. This size is worth keeping in stock: it costs next to nothing, and when it's missing, the whole repair waits for a rubber ring weighing a few grams.
From the same series we carry the EPDM O-ring 109 and the EPDM O-ring 1.78 × 20.35 mm – all three are separate parts with their own numbers, even if they look similar. For lever machines there are the O-rings for the LEVA in six sizes. All the small parts are in the Original spare parts section, the brand's range in the La Marzocco accessories and spare parts section.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We deliberately order O-rings of these sizes in pairs: one for the repair, one for the drawer. The second costs almost nothing and has saved many a Saturday when no more deliveries were coming. This is our own routine, not a manufacturer requirement. And once the machine is tight again, we pull the test shot with Very Nutty, because its crema immediately shows whether the pressure is right. It gets milder with Nutty Delight; everything else is in Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check your machine's model, year of manufacture and serial number – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Alongside the 113, our documentation lists a second specification, noted there in abbreviated form. We don't add it based on guesswork. The part number H.1.019 is binding for your order – if in doubt, write to us.
Our documentation does not state a location. We won't make one up. Tell us which drawing the number comes from, and we'll identify it together.
Seals in the water path of an espresso machine are made for this use. That is exactly why we recommend the original part here and not a ring from a plumbing supplier.
That depends on temperature, water and operating hours. In commercial settings we replace seals as scheduled during servicing instead of waiting for a leak.
Yes. Come to our showroom in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 or in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring the old ring with you and we'll measure it together.
