On a paddle group, the character of the machine comes down to the feel of the lever: it should move firmly, without scratching or fluttering. One of the parts responsible for this is this size 3087 O-ring made of EPDM with 70 Shore A. The part number is H.1.010.01. The manufacturer lists the same position on the plumbed-in drain as well.
EPDM with 70 Shore A is the medium hardness that strikes the balance between sealing and smooth movement. Softer would seal better but be stiffer to move; harder would run more easily but start leaking sooner. Anyone who fits a ring from an assortment box here changes exactly this feel – and notices it with every shot.
The paddle becomes stiff or, conversely, noticeably loose, and it judders during pre-infusion instead of gliding evenly. At the drain, a drop appears that comes back after wiping, or a fine line of limescale forms at the threaded fitting. When removed, the ring is hard, flattened in two places and barely stretches any more. At that point retightening no longer helps – only replacing it does.

The paddle group carries brewing water under pressure. Let the machine cool down, disconnect it from the mains and release the pressure completely before opening the group. We deliberately don’t give step-by-step instructions here – the paddle group has control edges that must be in the correct position when it is reassembled. After servicing, pull a blank shot and check the sealing point while the machine is warm.
For service companies overhauling a paddle group, and for owners of a machine with manual brew control who have the ring replaced together with the other wear parts. Replacing it on its own is rarely worth the effort – if you have the group open anyway, replace the neighbouring rings at the same time.
The paddle group has two more rings that look similar and must not be mixed up: the O-ring 110 EPDM 70 ShA and the O-ring 137. Also matching are the spacer for the paddle group and the GS3 MP Paddle brew head valve. You’ll find an overview in the Original spare parts section and under La Marzocco GS3 spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
When we have a paddle group open, we replace all the rings in the group at once, not just the one that leaked. Together the parts cost less than a second service appointment, and afterwards the paddle feels like it did on day one. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. We like to pull the first shot afterwards with Nutty Delight, because this blend immediately shows an uneven pre-infusion; for something sweeter try Cozy Chocolate, for something stronger Very Nutty. You’ll find more under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we’ll work out the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Our documentation names the paddle group and plumbed-in drain as installation points, but no model. That’s why the product has no model tag. What counts is number H.1.010.01 on your exploded view.
No. These are three different positions on the same assembly. The 3087 has number H.1.010.01, the 110 has number H.1.011.01 and the 137 has number H.1.016.
It’s the hardness of the rubber. 70 ShA is the usual medium hardness. A softer or harder ring of the same dimensions noticeably changes how easily the paddle moves.
If you’re overhauling a group, yes. The price is for one ring; you enter the quantity in the cart.
Yes. We’re in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and the part will be ready for you.
