On a GS3 MP, the paddle is the only control you actually hold in your hand during extraction. Its travel takes you through pre-infusion, holding and full pressure – the entire extraction depends on this one handle. The part number is C.2.020.
Accordingly, the part takes a lot: hundreds of movements a day, milk splashes, cleaning agents and constant hand contact. At some point it starts to show – the surface turns dull, the edges pick up marks, or a crack forms at the mounting. Then the paddle is a wear part like any other.
The lever has play it didn’t have before, or it no longer sits firmly on the shaft. The surface has become scratched, faded or sticky. A hairline crack shows at the mount – that’s where a paddle will eventually break, usually at the worst possible moment. And sometimes it’s simply a question of looks: a GS3 on the counter is in full view of guests, and a worn lever stands out there.

For owners of a GS3 MP who want to replace their lever – whether because it is damaged or for cosmetic reasons. And for service workshops getting a machine back into shape before resale. The paddle is one of the few parts on a GS3 that can be replaced without touching the water circuit.
The same assembly includes the conical shaft for the GS3 paddle valve, the GS3 MP paddle brew head valve, the spacer for the paddle group and the M5 nut for the GS3 paddle. You’ll find the group’s seals as O-ring 3087 and O-ring PTFE 23,40 × 3,53 mm. For an overview, see La Marzocco GS3 spare parts and the category Original spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
A paddle with play is rarely at fault itself – usually the shaft underneath is worn or the nut has come loose. That’s why we always check the seat first before replacing the lever. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. And once it runs smoothly again, it deserves a shot where you can actually taste the lever travel: Nutty Delight for the house standard, Cozy Chocolate sweeter, Very Nutty bolder. No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced to order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we’ll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. The Linea Mini has its own paddle with the number C.2.036, which we stock separately. This one is number C.2.020 for the GS3 MP.
No. You only receive the paddle. Shaft, valve, nut and spacer are separate items.
Our service documentation doesn’t state the material or colour for C.2.020. We won’t guess – write to us if you need to know the version in advance.
It sits on the outside of the group and is accessible without opening the water circuit. Even so: switch the machine off beforehand and let it cool down. If the shaft has to be removed as well, the job belongs in the hands of a qualified technician.
Yes. We’re in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know shortly beforehand and the part will be ready for you.
