PTFE is the material for the tough spots: hot steam, constant pressure, continual temperature changes. It keeps its shape where an elastomer goes soft, and it doesn't age as quickly. In return, it is not very forgiving – once compressed, it does not return to its original shape. That is why a PTFE gasket is installed and removed, but never installed twice.
This ring carries the part number F.4.001. It is one of those small parts nobody looks for as long as everything is sealed, and that then suddenly hold up the whole service because they were crushed during disassembly.
Moisture or a limescale trace appears at the threaded fitting and comes back after wiping. The gasket is deformed, torn or cut when removed. Last time, the connection could only be sealed by tightening it harder. Or it has simply been removed – then it doesn't go back in.

The gasket sits in a pressurised connection. Switching off the machine, disconnecting it from the mains, letting it cool down and depressurising it are prerequisites. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. PTFE is not reused: if you open the threaded fitting, have the new ring ready.
For workshops that want to keep small parts in stock for servicing, and for technically skilled operators who need to get a particular threaded fitting sealed again. If you are not sure whether this size is the right one, ask first – with gaskets, guessing costs more time than a quick question.
Other PTFE items in the catalogue are the PTFE gasket 10 × 2,5, the PTFE gasket 24 × 19 × 2 and the PTFE gasket for the steam wand. You'll find everything else in the section La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We always measure removed gaskets with a calliper before reordering – a compressed PTFE washer looks bigger than it was when new, and if you order by eye, you get the wrong one twice. That is our own routine, not a manufacturer requirement. We fill the wait until the leak test with an espresso, usually the Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you like it stronger, go for the Very Nutty; the full selection is under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
The manufacturer's list says «12x9, 8X1». We read this as 12 × 9,8 × 1 mm and say openly that the notation is not unambiguous. If a tenth of a millimetre matters for you, measure the old gasket and send us the values, and we'll compare them before you order.
The manufacturer's information does not state a location, and we won't make one up. What counts is the number F.4.001 in your service documentation.
No. PTFE and elastomers behave differently under pressure and heat. Where PTFE is specified, PTFE belongs.
One gasket is supplied. If you need several, state the quantity when you order.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know in advance and it will be ready for you.
