A cylinder head screw with hex socket is the screw for places that get tightened firmly and where an Allen key can reach straight in. The drive sits deep in the head, so it doesn't slip like a slot – and that is why you find this design on espresso machines wherever things need to be tight.
La Marzocco lists this item under number L120/2, M6 with a length of 10 millimetres, stainless steel A2. Not to be confused with the M6 × 10 with button head of the same length under number I.1.097: same size, different head.
The hex socket is stripped – the key spins instead of gripping. The head shows signs of rust. The thread runs stiffly. And whenever a screw has had to be loosened by force: it doesn't go back in, it gets replaced.

If the screw sits inside the machine or on a pressurised fitting, the machine is first disconnected from the mains, depressurised and allowed to cool down. A hex socket tempts you to apply too much torque – the key grips well, but the thread in the component is still only as strong as it is. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here.
For service workshops that reassemble true to the original, and for anyone who wants to replace a stripped Allen screw without guessing in a standard parts catalogue.
The long version of the same design is the M6 × 50 screw. A neighbouring item with a very similar number is the copper gasket for the vent on the brew group under L120/2A – although the list does not explicitly tell us that the two belong together. Also in our range: the M6 × 18 screw with hex head. Everything else under Original spare parts and La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
This is our routine, not a manufacturer specification: before we put a key on a seized Allen screw, we scrape the hex socket clean with a pointed tool. A millimetre of scale or coffee grease in the head is enough to stop the key from seating fully – and that is exactly how you strip a head. Meanwhile, we have Very Nutty brewing; more under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your statutory rights regarding defective goods remain unaffected.
Only the head, and therefore the number: this one is L120/2 with cylinder head and hex socket, the other one is I.1.097 with a flat, domed button head. Thread and length are identical.
We have no verified information on this. Try on the removed original which Allen key sits without play.
The numbers are close together, but the list does not tell us that the two are installed together. We link it as a neighbouring item, but we do not claim any connection.
One screw. If you need several, order the corresponding quantity – at this price, a small stock is worth having.
