When a screw has to be 50 millimetres long, there is rarely just one piece of sheet metal behind it. Several layers sit on top of each other, or one component is clamped through another. A cylinder head with hex socket is the right design for this – the key engages deeply and does not slip, even when tightened firmly.
La Marzocco lists this item under part number I.1.100 in stainless steel. The English spare part name says “Socket Cup” – meaning the cylinder head with hex socket.
The hex socket is rounded out. The shank has stretched or is bent – with long screws you can see this by laying them on a flat surface and rolling them. The thread runs rough along its entire length. After being forced loose, it should be replaced in any case.

Long screws clamp several components together. If one of them is fully tightened first, the assembly distorts and the remaining threads are pulled at an angle. First screw them all in by hand, then tighten them crosswise. If the screw connection is inside the machine or at a pressurised point, the machine must first be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and allowed to cool down. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here.
For service workshops that never reuse long screws as a matter of principle, and for anyone who wants to replace a damaged screw connection true to the original.
The short version of the same design is the M6 × 10 screw with cylinder head; there are also the M6 × 10 with button head and the M6 × 18 with hex head. For visible hex socket heads there is the D13 cover cap. Everything else under Original spare parts and La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
This is our routine, not a manufacturer specification: after removal, we briefly lay long screws on the edge of the workbench and roll them. One that wobbles is bent and does not go back in – you can see that in two seconds, and it saves an hour of troubleshooting later. With a pot of Nutty Delight alongside; more under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after being installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
It refers to the cylinder head with hex socket. We include the original English name so that you can recognise it in the service documentation.
We have no verified information on this. Try on the removed original to see which Allen key fits without play.
No. The length determines how much thread carries the load. Too short means too little grip – on a machine with pressure and vibration, that is not a good idea.
No, a single screw is supplied. If you need several, order the corresponding quantity.
Yes. We have two locations: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a line and we will have it ready for you.
