The pushrod is the link between what the barista does and what happens in the basket. It picks up the movement of the lever and carries it into the group. In the service documentation it is listed under A.5.062, and because La Marzocco keeps its documents in several languages, you will also find it there as Shaft or Piston – it is the same component.
Wear doesn't show up here as a defect, but as a loss of precision. The lever develops play it didn't have before. The movement becomes jerky instead of smooth. And the extraction loses the repeatability you actually rely on with a lever machine.
Visible scoring, wear marks or corrosion on the shaft. Play in the guide that new bushings can't get rid of. A lever that catches at the reversal point. Or a component that is on the workbench anyway during an overhaul and whose surface would no longer carry the gaskets cleanly – a new gasket set on a worn pushrod won't last long.

The pushrod sits in the lever group, which works with spring force and carries full brewing pressure during extraction. It is only opened depressurised and cooled down, and the springs are only released with the designated tool. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. If you replace the pushrod, replace the gaskets at the same time – they come in the service kit, not with this item.
For technicians repairing a LEVA, and for businesses with a lever machine in continuous use whose movement is no longer right. If you are opening the group anyway, order the pushrod together with the matching gasket set.
The gaskets come with the Pushrod service kit 1002, the piston with the Piston service kit LM1001. Part of the same guide are the piston rod guide ring and the cylinder head guide. Everything else under Spare parts for the LEVA and Original spare parts.
From our workshop
At our workshops in Bern and Zurich, an old pushrod never goes straight to scrap. We put it next to the new one and look at the wear pattern – it tells you quite precisely whether the group was properly aligned or whether a bushing somewhere had been moving that you would otherwise have overlooked. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. We then test with Nutty Delight, because an uneven lever movement shows up in its taste. Milder with Cozy Chocolate, stronger with Very Nutty; the full range under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced to order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check your machine's model, year of manufacture and serial number – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Because the manufacturer documents are multilingual. Pushrod, Shaft and Piston all refer to the same component here, number A.5.062.
No. Only the pushrod is supplied. The gaskets are in service kit 1002.
We don't have any information on that, and we won't guess. If you need the information for documentation, we'll ask the manufacturer.
The work documentation simply says LEVA. Send us the serial number and we'll check whether your machine has this position.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a quick message beforehand and we'll have the part ready.
