Between the drive of the Swift and the tamper shaft sits a coupling. It transmits the rotary motion, compensates for small misalignments and is therefore the part that takes on the wear instead of passing it on to more expensive components. Part number 5.132.
When it starts to give, the grinder sounds different: as the tamper starts up there is a short click, a jolt, a rattle. Sometimes the tamper also slips briefly before it engages. This is not a noise to sit out – a knocking coupling keeps wearing away at the bearing and shaft.
There is clicking or jerking when the tamper starts and stops. The tamper movement seems uneven rather than smooth. The coupling shows cracks, worn drive dogs or visible play when you turn the shafts against each other by hand. Or the machine was open for an overhaul anyway and the coupling has many operating hours behind it.

The coupling sits in the drive area of the grinder, in the immediate vicinity of live parts. Switching the machine off and unplugging it from the mains is a requirement, not a recommendation. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here. What matters is that the shafts are aligned during reassembly – a coupling that is installed at an angle will not last long.
For service companies and technically skilled users who want to fix a new noise in the drive at its root. If you are unsure where the clicking comes from, have it listened to before you order parts – write to us, we will help narrow it down.
At the lower end of the same shaft works the Tamper Impeller 5.331.01; on its smaller sister it is the Impeller A.5.125.R with its segment O-ring. The grinding unit includes the ceramic burrs. Everything else is under Pico and Swift spare parts and in the coffee grinders section.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: We record new noises in a grinder on our phone before we take it apart – on the second listen you can tell whether it clicks when starting up or when running down, and that already half decides where to look. This is our own routine, not a manufacturer specification. For the final check we grind a few doses, usually with Nutty Delight or Cozy Chocolate. If you like it stronger, go for Very Nutty; the full selection is under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine before ordering – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. Only the mechanical coupling 5.132 is supplied. We do not sell motors and other electrical assemblies through the online shop.
The manufacturer's data lists the Swift. That does not tell us whether the Mini uses the same coupling. Send us the serial number and we will check it before you order.
Not necessarily. A click can also come from a worn bearing or a loose screw. You only know for sure once the drive is open.
The manufacturer's data does not give one, and we do not make one up. The number 5.132 is what counts.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Let us know in advance and it will be ready for you.
