On the conical valve of the GS3 MP there are two washers with almost identical dimensions. This one is made of Teflon and measures 14,1 × 30 × 2 mm; the other is made of steel and measures 14,2 × 30 × 2 mm. One tenth of a millimetre in inner diameter – and a completely different material.
Teflon slides and settles, steel bears the load and stays hard. If you mix the two up, you won't notice straight away but after a few weeks: the paddle turns more stiffly or suddenly has play. That is why we put the material in the title. The part number of this washer is I.6.005.
The washer shows visible wear, is grooved or has become thinner. The paddle has developed play or turns unevenly. The old washer came out deformed during disassembly. And as a general rule: if you have the group open anyway, it is better to replace a Teflon part at this price than to fit it a second time.

The washer sits inside the brew group, i.e. in a pressurised assembly. Only work on the machine when it is switched off, disconnected from the mains, cooled down and depressurised. Compressed Teflon does not spring back – a washer that has been removed must not be refitted. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here.
The dimensions are one tenth of a millimetre apart, the material is completely different. A Teflon washer cannot be replaced by a steel washer of the same size, and vice versa. When in doubt, the number on your service document decides.
For workshops that have disassembled a GS3 MP paddle group, and for anyone searching for exactly this washer with the number I.6.005 from a service document.
The same assembly includes the conical spindle A.5.055, the pin 5 × 23, the socket screw M5 × 5 and the nut M5. The matching seal is the PTFE O-ring 23,40 × 3,53. All other parts are listed under GS3 spare parts and Original spare parts.
From our workshop
When we disassemble a paddle group in Bern or Zurich, we lay the small parts out on a cloth in the order they came out – from left to right, nothing in a bowl. With two washers that differ by a tenth, that is the difference between a clean assembly and an hour of guesswork. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. And afterwards there is coffee: Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will check the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Material and inner diameter. I.6.005 is made of Teflon and measures 14,1 × 30 × 2 mm, I.1.091 is made of steel and measures 14,2 × 30 × 2 mm. They are not interchangeable.
We advise against it. Compressed Teflon does not spring back and no longer holds the same preload when fitted a second time.
One is supplied. How many there are in your group depends on the version – check when you disassemble it or write to us beforehand.
The documentation names the GS3 MP with conical valve. Other items may apply to other versions. Tell us the serial number and we will check.
Yes. We are happy to show it to you in our showroom in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
