The mixing valve combines cold fresh water with hot water from the boiler so that the desired temperature reaches the outlet. It works mechanically via body, needle and seal – a setting that is made once and should then last for years.
When it starts to wear, you notice it in the cup rather than at the valve: the tea water gets too hot or too lukewarm, the temperature drifts over the day, or the setting no longer holds and has to be readjusted constantly. Scale on the needle and a worn sealing surface are the usual causes.
Replace the mixing valve if the temperature can no longer be set stably, if it leaks internally and hot water gets into the cold water path, if the needle is stuck or the thread is worn out, or if the body is weeping. Before you replace the whole valve, it is worth looking at the service kit: often only the body, needle and O-ring need replacing.

The valve sits in the pressurised water path inside the machine and carries hot water. Before opening, the machine is disconnected from the power, cut off from the water supply and allowed to cool down depressurised. After installation, the mixing temperature must be readjusted and checked with a thermometer – we deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here, because an incorrectly set mixing valve leads to unexpectedly hot water at the outlet.
For service workshops that need to teach a machine the right tea water temperature again, and for hospitality businesses giving an older machine a thorough overhaul. If you only have a gradual deviation, the service kit is usually the cheaper option.
The kit for the mixing valve with body, needle and O-ring is the smaller solution. Also located on the mixing valve are the Gigleur Ø 1.5 mm M5 and the adjustment wheel for the GS3 tea temperature. The matching pipes are the copper pipe from the 3-way valve and the copper pipe from the heat exchanger. You will find everything else under Original spare parts and Accessories and spare parts La Marzocco.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
We never set the mixing valve by feel, but with a thermometer in the cup and three draws in a row – the first two say little, only the third shows where the machine really lands. That is our routine, not a manufacturer specification. Once the temperature is right, we pull a Nutty Delight as a check; for darker profiles we use the Cozy Chocolate, for more punch the Very Nutty. You will find all of them under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a trial fitting on the machine. Therefore, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine before ordering – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. The mixing valve B.2.001 is supplied without coil and without electrics. We do not sell solenoid valves online – please get in touch with us for those.
If the temperature is just harder to hold, the kit with body, needle and O-ring is usually enough. A weeping or worn valve body gets replaced.
Our documentation does not name a model. Send us the serial number of your machine and we will check the fit before you order.
Yes. The mixing temperature is readjusted and checked with a thermometer. This belongs in the hands of a qualified technician.
