The shaft drive is the mechanical link in the Wally's drive train. It picks up the rotary motion and passes it on – nothing more, but that is exactly what determines whether the assembly runs smoothly or rattles. What you receive is the mechanical part under number F.3.142; a motor, a circuit board or any other electrics are not included.
At this point, wear becomes audible before it becomes visible: a clack on start-up, a faint grinding during operation, play you can feel by hand when the unit is switched off. Ignore it, and later you will replace not only the drive but also the component behind it.
Replace the shaft drive if clacking caused by play appears on start-up, if the drive engagement slips or fails entirely, if the seat is visibly worn out or loose, or if scoring and material wear are visible on disassembly. A worn-out drive cannot be readjusted.

The drive sits inside the unit, close to live components. Before opening, the unit is disconnected from the mains and allowed to cool down. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here: a drive assembly that starts up again after being reassembled incorrectly is a danger to the hands working on it.
For service technicians maintaining a Wally unit, and for businesses that want to keep a wear part in stock instead of leaving the unit out of action for days.
The matching device is the La Marzocco Wally Milk. All other original spare parts can be found in our Original spare parts section, the wider range under Accessories and spare parts La Marzocco. For cleaning the milk lines, take a look at our Machine and grinder cleaning.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
When a drive part is on our workbench, we turn it by hand and listen before we install it – a new part that already catches when dry will not sit properly in the unit afterwards either. That is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Afterwards there is a cappuccino as a check, usually with Nutty Delight, sometimes with Cozy Chocolate or – when it should be strong – with Very Nutty. All of them are under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the unit. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. You receive the mechanical drive part F.3.142. We do not sell motors, circuit boards and other electrical components online – for those, get in touch with us.
Our documentation only names the Wally, not a version. Send us the serial number of your unit and we will check the fit before you order.
We have no information on this, nor on the material. The only reliable reference is the part number F.3.142.
It sits inside the unit next to live components. We recommend installation by a specialist and deliberately do not provide installation instructions here.
