The chassis is the internal frame of the R Cinquantotto. The boiler, pump, brew group and casing are all mounted on it – it carries the weight and keeps everything aligned so that the panels sit flush and the group stands level. You never see it, and you never think about it. Until it gets bent.
Then suddenly nothing fits any more: a side panel sticks out, the drip tray jams, a screw goes in at an angle. This kind of damage is almost always caused by transport, by a fall or by water that has stood in one spot for a long time.
The chassis is bent, dented or cracked at a mounting point – usually after transport damage. Threaded mounts are torn out, and casing parts can no longer be fastened flush. The frame has rusted through in one place. Or a machine is being rebuilt from the ground up and the old frame is the weakest point.

For service workshops repairing transport or water damage on an R Cinquantotto – and for anyone who is truly rebuilding a machine from the ground up. Replacing the chassis means completely dismantling the machine; this is not an afternoon project.
Replacing the chassis means: everything off, everything back on – including mains voltage, heating, boiler and water circuit. Disconnect the machine from the mains, drain it, let it cool down and depressurise it. After reassembly, electrical safety and leak-tightness must be tested. This belongs in the hands of a qualified technician. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions here.

From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
Our routine, not a manufacturer specification: anyone transporting a machine drains the boiler and the tank beforehand. That sounds obvious and yet it gets forgotten all the time – and a full boiler that starts moving when the machine is lifted is exactly the force that bends a frame. We also place the drip tray separately and don't wedge the portafilter into the group. And once the machine is standing in its new place, our first shot is Nutty Delight, because you can immediately hear and taste whether everything is in order. Cozy Chocolate and Very Nutty are right beside it, more in coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
The part number is A009909203 and the designation names the R Cinquantotto. The series has been modified over the years – be sure to send us the serial number before you order a part of this size.
No. The chassis is what's delivered. Boiler, pump, brew group, casing, feet and screws are separate items.
That depends on the damage and on the condition of the rest of the machine. Write to us about what happened, ideally with photos – we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it.
No, the frame itself is purely mechanical. However, removing and installing it means completely dismantling the machine, including the electrical components – hence the qualified technician.
Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring your machine's serial number and we'll take a look at the damage together.
