A spring needs two points: one it pushes against and one it moves. The spring support in the steam and water valve of the Appartamento TCA is the first of these. It takes up the spring force and transfers it into the valve mechanism, neatly centred and without tilting.
If the support is worn, deformed or sits askew, the spring loses part of its effect, or it pushes unevenly. The result then looks like a tired spring or a poor seal – but it isn't. This item is the spring support with part number A219909448.

Dimensions and material are not stated in the documentation for this number – so we don't give them. The matching spring has the number A219909449 and is a separate item.
The support sits in a pressurised assembly on the boiler. Switch off the machine, unplug it, and let it cool down completely and depressurise. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. From experience: if you're opening the valve anyway, replace the seal, spring and spring support in one go – otherwise the valve will soon be back open on the workbench.
For anyone who has already tried in vain to fix a dripping tap with a new seal. And for workshops that overhaul the Appartamento TCA valve completely rather than in stages.
We stock seven springs, and their names sound similar enough to mix them up. They are not interchangeable – if in doubt, go by the part number in your service documentation, not by the name.
Four springs without a series designation: A209904332 for the steam and water tap, C219900427 for the coffee brew lever, R299905958 and A999905754. For the last two, our documentation names neither the installation location nor the machine.
Three springs of the TCA series: A219909449, the spring for steam and water on the Appartamento TCA, A219909448, the matching spring support – i.e. this product – and R019908932, the bushing spring.
Our documentation states neither wire gauge, length nor material for any of these springs. Send us your machine's serial number and we'll check the fit.
From our workshop in Bern and Zürich
When dismantling, we always lay out the small parts from a valve side by side in the order they come out – and photograph them before even one is moved. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement, but with an assembly of shaft, spring, support and seal it saves exactly the hassle that otherwise arises during reassembly.
At the end we test with steam and with a shot. Our benchmark is Nutty Delight; milder with Cozy Chocolate, stronger with Very Nutty. Everything under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights regarding defective goods remain unaffected.
No. The spring has the number A219909449 and is a separate item.
Not necessarily. However, if the contact surface of the old support is worn, the new spring won't last as long as it could. During an overhaul we replace both together.
Dimensions and material are not documented for this number. Order using part number A219909448.
No. A purely mechanical small part in a pressurised assembly.
Yes. We're in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zürich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring your machine's serial number and we'll put the part next to it.
