Two streams at the same time, cleanly separated, and the spout sits high enough that nothing touches the surface you rest it on.
The portafilter from the VIP Line has the brown design handle, which sits wider in the hand and takes less effort when you lock it into the group. The spout is shaped as a Coffee Slide: it guides the coffee downward so that it doesn't come into contact with the work surface when you set the portafilter down. A small thing, noticeable every day.
What's more interesting is what comes with it. Four baskets, all made of stainless steel and developed in collaboration with IMS: one for a single serving of 9 to 11 grams, one for two servings of 14 to 18 grams, one for two servings of 18 to 21 grams, and a blind basket. With these you cover practically every dose that comes up at home.
The choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma profile. Hole pattern, number of holes and material thickness determine the flow resistance, and pressure shapes the aromatic time window: different ones among the more than 800 compounds in coffee dissolve at different moments. A shallower basket with a smaller dose brings clarity to the fore, a deeper one with 18 to 21 grams more density and body. We always describe extraction by weight ratio, 1:2 as a starting point, never by time alone.
The blind basket isn't a side accessory – it's the reason a machine tastes the same over the years: backflush daily without detergent, about every fifty shots with detergent, around five minutes. Our opinion is one of many, but we rarely see anyone regret this routine.

For everyone with a Lelit machine with a LELIT58 group who wants a second portafilter – one for the morning dose, one for the afternoon dose, without having to swap things around in between. For everyone who makes espresso and ristretto side by side and needs different baskets for it. And for everyone who wants to keep their machine clean and needs a blind basket to do so.
No shot can be replicated: the bean, the humidity and the person change every day. Four baskets give you four starting points instead of one.
You'll find compatible machines among the Lelit espresso machines, and more models in the Portafilters and bottomless portafilters collection.
If you want to dig deeper into the basket question, you'll find individual baskets and precision baskets in the precision baskets and filter baskets collection – changing a basket changes more about the aroma than most other adjustments.
Then the tools that come before: for everyone who wants a tamper and WDT tool that are affordable and precise, the Normcore barista tools are the direct route. If you want more, go for the tamper and Moonraker from Weber Workshops. And the same applies to scales: Normcore affordable and precise, the Acaia coffee scales with app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth.
Four, made of stainless steel, in collaboration with IMS: one for a single serving of 9 to 11 grams, one for two servings of 14 to 18 grams, one for two servings of 18 to 21 grams, and a blind basket.
For the backflush. It has no holes, so the water is pushed back into the group head and flushes it from the inside. Daily without detergent, about every fifty shots with detergent – around five minutes.
All those with the LELIT58 group: MaraX and MaraX3, Bianca, Elizabeth and Elizabeth3, Victoria and Victoria3, and Kate. Anna and Anita work with the LELIT57 group – it doesn't fit there.
The spout. This one splits the shot cleanly into two cups and holds the temperature in the stream a little longer. A bottomless one, on the other hand, shows you how the water runs through the puck. Both have their place, and many people have both.
Yes. You can experience it live in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Delivery to Switzerland and Liechtenstein takes 2 to 4 working days.
With four baskets, it's worth running the same bean at two doses – the difference is bigger than you'd expect. Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight show body and chocolate in the large basket, more clarity in the small one. If you're looking for maximum body without any acidity, go for Very Nutty. And for a fruity experience on the side, Wild Peach is ready. That's our recommendation, one of many; any other bean works just as well.
