The lid opens, fresh water runs in, and as you slide the tank back it sloshes once, briefly. That's how a calm morning begins.
Nobody replaces a water tank out of enthusiasm. You do it because there's a crack, because limescale has built up, or because a second tank makes the morning swap easier. All of that is legitimate, and we respect it either way.
Water makes up more than 90 percent of an espresso. It's the solvent that selects which of the more than 800 compounds in roasted coffee make it into the cup. Water that's too soft takes little with it and makes the cup taste flat; water that's too hard binds the aromas and at the same time settles as limescale in the boiler. The ideal range is a mineral content of between 50 and 100 mg per litre.
The tank is at the start of this journey. What goes in here comes out again at the basket. A clean, leak-tight container is therefore no side issue but the first stage of extraction – long before pressure and temperature do their work.
This tank is the design used in the Mara X and the Bianca and comes complete. Lelit makes separate designs for the EM series around Anna and Anita and for the VIP models – they're not interchangeable. Which one belongs to your machine is in the table below, and if in doubt we'll clarify it before you order.

For anyone who has a Mara X or a Bianca at home and wants to replace the tank or keep a second one ready. The swap needs no tools: old tank out, new one in, fill with water.
Whether the machine has been running for years or only for a few weeks makes no difference here. No setup is too small and none too big for this thought – you belong here because you like coffee.
If you've got the tank in your hands anyway, you'll usually think about the water in it too. You'll find descaler and cleaners under machine and grinder cleaning.
Because extraction is described by brew ratio and not by time alone – 1:2 is the starting point, not a law – a scale under the cup is worth it. For anyone who wants an affordable and precise coffee scale: Normcore. If you want an app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth: Acaia. Both paths are valid – that's our view, and one of many.
You'll find more accessories and spare parts for the brand in the Lelit collection.
The tank is specified for the Lelit Mara X (PL62X) in versions V1, V2 and V3 and for the Lelit Bianca (PL162T) V1, V2 and V3. Other Lelit models use other designs. If you're unsure, send us the item number or the rating plate of your machine at [email protected] – we'll check the fit before you order.
They're three separate designs. This one belongs to the Mara X and the Bianca. The EM series around Anna and Anita has its own 2.6-litre tank, wide open at the top. And for the VIP models and the Mara PL62 there's a tank with a float. The three aren't interchangeable.
2.5 litres. That matches the capacity Lelit specifies for the Mara X and the Bianca.
Water makes up more than 90 percent of an espresso. A mineral content of 50 to 100 mg per litre is considered the ideal range. Below that, the cup quickly tastes flat; above it, the water binds aromas and at the same time deposits more limescale. Which water you use remains your decision – our recommendation is one of many.
Yes. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can see the part in person and go through with us whether it fits your machine.
2 to 4 working days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Click and Collect in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon is also possible.
Fresh water in the tank shows most clearly with dense, chocolatey roasts. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight run through full-bodied, round and sweet. If you're after maximum body without any acidity, stay with Very Nutty. And if you're curious about something fruity, Wild Peach brings a lively peach note. That's our recommendation, one of many – any bean you enjoy works just as well.
