IMS Precision Basket 54mm – h24, 14–18g (for Sage & Breville)
The everyday basket for Sage and Breville: 14–18g, a consistently level puck, and a steady, focused flow in the bottomless portafilter. The brightly polished wall can be cleaned in seconds after extraction.
Nobody needs a precision basket for good espresso – the original basket does its job. You want it because the cup becomes clearer, rounder, and sweeter. This is one of many possible decisions, and we respect both directions.
What makes this basket special
IMS's Competition perforation is designed for even extraction: 583 round holes with a conical cross-section, distributed in a grid pattern, allow water to flow cleanly over the entire puck – fewer channels, rounder in the cup. The surface is brightly polished all around, even inside the holes, so that hardly any coffee residues stick, making cleaning easy (dishwasher safe). Made of AISI-304 stainless steel in Italy, with a flat bottom. Espresso is extraction based on a weight ratio, usually 1:2 – from 16g, approximately 32g in the cup. Taste and smell are inseparable, a large part of which occurs retronasally. It is our observation that the choice of basket fundamentally changes the aroma profile.

Who it's for
For Sage and Breville users (Express, Bambino, Bambino Plus, Barista Pro) who want to pull their daily double cleaner and rounder – all budgets are welcome. The reliable all-rounder in the 54mm format. If you dose leaner or higher, you can also find the series in 22, 26, and 28 mm. You belong here because you love coffee – not because you use a specific basket.
What goes with it
Best in your Sage/Breville's bottomless portafilter. For an even puck: the tamper collection (for 54mm, a 53.3mm tamper, e.g., from Normcore) – premium tools from Weber Workshops. To prevent clumps beforehand: WDT Tools. Plus the right grinder. All other baskets: Precision Basket Collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the basket fit my Sage or Breville?
Yes – for 54mm brew groups, compatible with Express, Bambino, Bambino Plus, and Barista Pro, among others. For the standard portafilter, remove the plastic insert; in the bottomless portafilter, the basket sits directly.
What dose – 14 or 18g?
This height (24mm) is designed for 14–18g – the classic double range. For leaner doses, there's 22mm (12–16g), for more coffee mass, 26 and 28mm.
How do I clean the basket?
The polished surface leaves hardly any residue; the basket is dishwasher safe. For espresso oils, occasionally soak in cleaning solution.
Can I see the basket before buying?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b).
Roastery Tip
An even basket most rewards dense, aromatic beans. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight brew full-bodied and round. If you're looking for maximum body without any acidity, stick with Very Nutty; if you like it fruity, discover a lively peach note with Wild Peach. Our recommendation – one of many.
