Weber Workshops Puck Saver – 58mm Protective Screen
You place the thin stainless steel disc on top of the puck, lock it in, and brew. After the shot, you knock out the puck, rinse the disc briefly under the tap – done. Your machine's shower screen stays cleaner without changing your usual routine.
The Weber Workshops Puck Saver is a thin protective disc made of 316L marine-grade stainless steel, 0.19 mm thick, with 200-micron holes. It sits on top of the puck and acts as a sacrificial layer. Available in packs of 2, 5, and 10 pieces. Coffee Coaching Club is the exclusive Swiss importer for Weber Workshops.
What the Puck Saver does
Water exits the shower screen at speed and hits the puck's surface directly at the start – this can wash away the top layer and encourage channeling. The Puck Saver buffers this jet. At the same time, it traps a large portion of coffee oils, keeping the shower screen cleaner; you simply clean the disc instead of the brew head.
Because it is very thin at 0.19 mm, it practically does not change the headspace above the puck – you don't need to adjust your dose. And it's even easier to clean than a thicker puck screen.

Puck Saver or Puck Screen
Both sit on top of the puck and protect the surface and shower screen. The Puck Saver is very thin at 0.19 mm, leaves the headspace almost unchanged, and is particularly easy to clean. The Puck Screen is a 2 mm thick mesh – more robust, and it reduces the distance above the puck, which can be useful when fine-tuning the dose. If you want to keep the distance the same, use the Puck Saver.
What goes with it
Fits any Unibasket or Unifilter as well as any standard 58mm basket. For even distribution before brewing, use a Moonraker or a Normcore WDT tool, for consistent grind, a grinder from our selection of grinders.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I need a Puck Saver?
It sits on top of the puck, buffers the water jet from the shower screen, and, as a sacrificial layer, keeps your machine's shower screen cleaner. It is not essential, but it takes some of the turbulence out of the start and reduces cleaning effort.
What is the difference between Puck Saver and Puck Screen?
The Puck Saver is very thin at 0.19 mm and leaves the headspace above the puck almost unchanged. The Puck Screen is a 2 mm thick mesh and reduces this distance, which can be used when dosing.
Do I need to adjust my dose?
No. Due to its thinness, the headspace remains practically the same.
How do I clean the Puck Saver?
Rinse under water immediately after use. No more is needed for everyday use.
Roastery Tip
A Puck Saver is not a must – good espresso is also possible without one. It keeps the brew head cleaner and takes the edge off the water jet, nothing more. Those who brew dense, full-bodied roasts like our Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight particularly appreciate the consistent cleanliness. This is our recommendation, one of many.
