Weber Workshops Spring Clean (Transparent) – backflush tool for 58mm

Backflushing matters, but with a blind basket and switching on and off several times, it's tedious enough that it's easy to put off. The Spring Clean turns it into a single, simple step: lock it in, start a shot, and the spring-loaded reservoir pushes the collected water back under pressure through the brew group and 3-way valve. With the transparent version, you can watch what's being flushed out as it happens.

Coffee Coaching Club is an importer of Weber Workshops.

    How the Spring Clean works

The tool loads like a piston. The brew water fills the 200 ml reservoir; when you stop the shot, the spring pushes the entire volume back through the brew group and the 3-way valve into the drip tray – around twenty times the amount of water of a conventional backflush pulse, in one go.

    What makes this version special

It's made from food-safe, BPA- and PFOA-free polymer with a silicone piston and an integrated stainless steel safety valve that releases at around 1 bar. Through the transparent housing you can watch the cleaning process. The more robust stainless steel version, built to last a lifetime, is available separately as the Metal Spring Clean.

    At a glance

Water volume 200 ml per cycle (around 20 times the amount)
Material BPA- and PFOA-free polymer, silicone piston
Safety Integrated stainless steel safety valve (approx. 1 bar)
Compatibility 58 mm machines with 3-way valve
Cleaning agents Common backflush cleaners such as Cafiza, Urnex

    Which machines it fits

Suitable for 58mm machines with a 3-way valve – that includes most E61 machines as well as La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Rocket, ECM, Profitec and many more. Machines without a 3-way valve, such as some single boilers, can't be backflushed.

    What goes with it

You'll find suitable cleaners in our machine and grinder cleaning range, and for sweeping out your grinder, the Weber grinder brush from the Weber Workshops Collection.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the Spring Clean fit my machine?

On 58mm machines with a 3-way valve, so most E61 machines as well as La Marzocco, Slayer, Synesso, Rocket, ECM and Profitec. Machines without a 3-way valve generally can't be backflushed.

    How often should I backflush?

We recommend daily with clean water, plus with cleaner roughly every 50 shots. That way no old coffee oils build up in the brew group.

    Which cleaner can I use?

Common backflush cleaners such as Cafiza or Urnex. One cycle with cleaner, rinse, then one cycle with clean water.

Does it replace servicing by a technician?

No, but it reduces it. The brew group and 3-way valve stay clean; seals, pump and boiler still need servicing as recommended by the manufacturer.

    Roastery tip

Coffee oils turn rancid over time and settle in the brew group and valve – that gives a dull note that has nothing to do with your beans. If you pull shots from several beans one after another, a quick cycle flushes away what's left of the previous one. That's our recommendation, one of many.
