The Modern Colour Changing Cupping Bowl by Loveramics is made of porcelain and holds 200 ml. According to Loveramics it turns white as soon as water above 95 °C is poured in. At around 70 °C it changes to light grey, and to dark grey as it cools further. The timing depends on room temperature and the amount of water.
Why this helps: temperature determines which compounds you perceive. When hot, body and roast notes dominate; as it cools, sweetness, complexity and, in some coffees, acidity come forward. If you taste several bowls side by side, the colour shows you which ones are currently in the same temperature window. Loveramics recommends hand washing. The dishwasher can alter the bowl's appearance.
How much coffee do I put in a bowl?
The SCA cupping protocol uses 8.25 g of coffee per 150 ml of water. For 200 ml that is around 11 g. It is a starting point, not a rule.
Can I see the product before buying?
