Why by weight instead of by volume
Using a dosing spoon and volume markings, espresso cannot be dosed reproducibly – too many variables. The scale measures input and output with 0.1g accuracy, making the brew ratio a constant. At CCC, we evaluate extraction by weight ratio (1:2 as a starting point), not by time alone – and a scale is exactly the tool for that.
Three Modes
The Pre-Infusion mode starts the timer with the first drop and lets it run until you lift the cup – good for recipes with long pre-infusion. The Auto mode starts with the first drop and stops as soon as no flow is detected for two seconds – good for extractions without pre-infusion. The Manual mode allows you to control the timer and tare yourself at any time – good for filter and other brewing methods. Auto-tare and auto-timer take care of the routine for you.

Anyone starting with a Flair will achieve consistent results faster with a scale – precisely dose the beans and observe the extraction at 1:2. With dense beans like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight, you can clearly see on the scale how the flow starts and when the target weight is reached. This is our recommendation, one of many.
