Eureka Mignon Stark W – Espresso Grinder with Grind-by-Weight
You hang the portafilter in the fork, tap eighteen grams into the touchscreen – and watch the number climb on the display as the grinder works. Just before the target dose, it slows down, then stops on its own, accurate to two tenths of a gram. No reweighing, no adjusting by hand.
The Mignon Stark W weighs as it grinds – Instant Grind Weighing technology (IGW) makes an external scale unnecessary. Coffee Coaching Club carries the Eureka lineup; Eureka has been manufacturing in Florence, Italy, since 1920. Available in three finishes: Chrome, Matte Black with Chrome, and White – identical in grinding mechanism and technology, purely a matter of style for your counter.
65mm Diamond Burrs and Instant Grind Weighing
The 65mm burrs, made with Eureka's patented Pure Diamond process, stay sharp for a long time and grind evenly. The upper burr is a blind burr – it keeps residue in the grinding chamber low. While grinding, the IGW technology weighs in real time: as soon as the target dose is reached, the motor stops automatically, with an accuracy of around ± 0.2 grams. The scale is factory-calibrated, and an anti-vibration system keeps the reading stable even while the motor is running.
Touchscreen and Grind Size
On the 2.8-inch touchscreen, you program two doses in gram increments, plus a continuous mode for free grinding. Grind size is adjusted steplessly and with micrometric precision via the King Size Grind Dial – fine adjustments between espresso and filter, with no fixed click stops. The fork is universal and fits practically any portafilter.
Silent Technology and All-Metal Construction
Silent Technology reduces noise by around 20 decibels compared to the previous model – a noticeable difference in the kitchen in the morning. The bean hopper holds 300 grams, and the direct-drive motor runs at 1650 RPM at 320 watts. At around 8 kilograms, the Stark W sits solidly on the counter with minimal vibration.

Who It's For
For anyone who wants grind-by-weight built right into the machine, without a separate scale under the spout – at home, in the office, anywhere precision should count without becoming complicated. Whether that matters more to you than a programmed grind time is a question of your workflow, not of right or wrong – our opinion is one of many. Anyone who prefers dosing by time will find the right alternative in the Mignon Oro Stark; our grind-by-weight grinder comparison offers a direct comparison. The full range is shown in the Eureka grinder collection.

What Pairs With It
The Stark W pairs well with espresso machines from our ECM and Profitec collections, as well as the La Marzocco Linea Micra. To catch the dose under the spout: affordable and reliable with a dosing cup from the Normcore collection; for those who want more, there's the Dosing Cup from the Weber Workshops collection. Add fresh beans like Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight.
Frequently Asked Questions
What finishes does the Eureka Mignon Stark W come in?
Three: Chrome, Matte Black with Chrome, and White. The grinding mechanism and technology are identical across all three – the choice is purely a matter of style.
How does grind-by-weight work on the Stark W?
The built-in Instant Grind Weighing technology (IGW) weighs in real time as it grinds and stops the motor automatically once the programmed dose is reached. You don't need an external scale for that.
How accurate is the dosing?
The factory-calibrated scale works to an accuracy of around ± 0.2 grams.
How loud is the grinder?
Thanks to Silent Technology, around 20 decibels quieter than the previous model. The best way to get a real impression is in person at the showroom.
What's the difference between the Stark W and the Mignon Oro Stark?
The Stark W grinds by weight: a built-in scale automatically stops the grinding process at the programmed dose. The Oro Stark instead doses by programmed time. Both share the compact Mignon format and the touchscreen – the choice comes down to your workflow.
Can I see the grinder before I buy?
Of course. You can experience the Stark W in person in Bern and Zürich Oerlikon. Feel free to bring your own beans.
Roastery Tip
The 65mm diamond burrs bring body and clarity at the same time. For a round, chocolatey, nutty espresso, go for Cozy Chocolate or Nutty Delight. If you're after maximum body with no acidity, try Very Nutty. Work your way toward your target dose in small steps. That's our recommendation, one of many.
