What makes the AKU special
The AKU is built as a working scale for home and café use. It offers automatic tare and timer modes for espresso, plus a fully manual mode where you control every variable yourself. The high-quality load cell measures to 0.1 g across the entire range, read on a clear 9-digit LED display. The housing is made from a cast alloy and CNC-machined to 0.02 mm tolerance – sturdy, durable, and unaffected by heat. Rated IPX5, the AKU is protected against water jets from any angle.

What goes with it
The AKU works with any portafilter machine, for instance from La Marzocco, Rocket or ECM, and pairs with any grinder from the Varia Collection. If you're after an especially flat travel scale, the AKU Mini is the slimmer sibling; if you need greater capacity and a color display, it's worth a look at the AKU PRO.

Frequently asked questions
Is the AKU suited for espresso and filter?
Yes. For espresso there's auto-tare and timer, for everything else the manual mode. The 0.1 g accuracy is enough for both brewing methods.
Does the AKU fit my machine's drip tray?
With many machines, yes. If it has to be especially flat, the AKU Mini at 13 mm high is the better choice.
Is the scale protected against water?
Yes, rated IPX5 against water jets from any angle – robust enough for daily café use.
Roastery tip
If you want repeatable shots, weigh both the dose in and the yield out. Set a 1:2 ratio as your starting point – 18 g of coffee, 36 g in the cup – and work your way toward your own taste from there. That's not a law, just a good start. That's our recommendation, one of many.
