If the shot becomes faster throughout the day due to changes in temperature and humidity, this grinder automatically adjusts the grind size: In conjunction with a compatible La Marzocco machine, the grinder and machine exchange data and keep the extraction within the desired window.

All Features at a Glance
Grind-by-Sync (GBS)
Via Cloud/WLAN, the grinder connects to a compatible espresso machine. If the system detects a deviation in extraction time, the grinder motorically adjusts the grind size – automatically.
Grind-by-Weight and DDD
A high-precision weighing cell doses by weight, while the patented Disc Distance Detection adjusts the grind size based on the real disc distance.
Portafilter Detection and Illuminated Spout
The grinder detects the inserted portafilter; the adjustable, illuminated spout ensures clean dosing.
Sync App and 88.3 mm Display
With the Mahlkönig Sync App, you set up the grind-brew synchronization and view statistics. The large display is readable from a wide angle.

Sync Compatibility
As a grinder, the E80W GBS works with any espresso machine. The automatic grind adjustment (Sync) functions with commercial La Marzocco machines: Linea Classic S, Linea PB, GB5 S, KB90, and Strada (AV/ABR). Linea Mini, Micra, and GS3 are not Sync-capable – they can be used as grinders, but without the Sync function.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I absolutely need Wi-Fi for the Sync function?
The E80W GBS communicates with the machine via Cloud/WLAN. A connection is necessary for the Sync function; as a pure grinder, it also works without it.
Does the Sync adjustment work with my Linea Mini or Micra?
No. These models can be operated with the grinder, but without automatic grind adjustment. Sync works with the commercial La Marzocco machines mentioned above.
Can I see the grinder on-site?
Yes, in our showrooms in Bern and Zurich. Delivery throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein in 2–4 business days, Click and Collect possible.
Roaster's Tip
For the Sync control to hit the sweet spot, I like an espresso with a clear core: Our Cozy Chocolate remains round and chocolatey, even over many extractions. That's our recommendation, one of many.
