How "The Sync System" works
It's magic, based on data. The grinder connects to your compatible espresso machine via Wi-Fi/cloud (or USB cable). They constantly exchange data:

The chemist's perspective: Why contact time is everything
Why extraction time can affect the taste when you extract by time: In order for our
Nutty Delight to develop its full, chocolatey body, the water needs exactly the right amount of time to dissolve the oils and sugars (approx. 25-30 seconds at a 1:2 ratio).
If the shot suddenly runs faster due to environmental factors (underextraction): you lose body and sweetness. The espresso becomes flat, thin, and sour.

The E65W GbS works as a grinder with ANY espresso machine (grind-by-weight always works). However, the sync function (automatic grind adjustment) ONLY works with:

Do I need Wi-Fi for The Sync System?
No, not necessarily. The E65W GbS can communicate with your machine via Wi-Fi/cloud OR via USB cable. The USB version works without an internet connection.
Can I use the E65W GbS with my Linea Mini?
Yes, but WITHOUT the sync function. The E65W GbS functions as a standard grind-by-weight grinder (precise dosing, 6000 measurements/second). However, the automatic grind adjustment (sync) does not work with the Linea Mini. If you don't need the sync function, we recommend the E65S GbW (less expensive, same quality). Or in combination with the Mahlkönig Synch scale (available separately from us).
What is the difference between E65S GbW and E65W GbS?
The E65W GbS additionally features: (1) Motorized grind size adjustment (electric, micrometer-precise), (2) The Sync System (automatic adjustment via cloud/USB with compatible machines), (3) Wi-Fi/cloud connectivity. The E65S GbW has manual grind size adjustment (tool-free, but manual). Both have grind-by-weight (6000 measurements/second).
Which machines are compatible with Sync?
Currently, only commercial La Marzocco machines are compatible: Linea Classic S, Linea PB, GB5 S, KB90, Strada (AV/ABR). NOT compatible: Linea Mini, Micra, GS3 MP/AV. Mahlkönig is working on expanding the list. Alternatively, it can be used in combination with the Mahlkönig Synch scale (available separately from us).
