Puqpress M4 – modular automatic tamper for the Fiorenzato F64 and F83
One motion, a short mechanical hum, an even push from above – and the puck sits flat, whether this is the first cup of the day or the hundredth, no matter who's standing behind the grinder. That's exactly what the Puqpress M4 brings: mounted as a module directly beneath the grinder, it compresses the coffee bed automatically, turning grinding and tamping into a single calm step.
Unevenly distributed pressure in the coffee bed sends water looking for the path of least resistance during brewing – extraction runs stronger in one spot, weaker in another, no matter how carefully someone tamped by hand. That's why the M4 tamps with the same, digitally set pressure between 10 and 30 kilograms every time, in around 1.3 seconds, selectable across three tamping profiles. As a modular unit, it's designed to sit beneath the Fiorenzato F64 and F83 grind-by-weight grinder. What's left is less manual tamping and more consistency from shot to shot – how much that matters for your own taste is partly a question of habit; our opinion is one of many.

Who it's made for
For anyone who wants to turn their Fiorenzato F64 or F83 into a compact grinding-and-tamping station and doesn't want to rely on their own hand pressure anymore – whether that's a home setup or a multi-barista operation on the same machine. You'll find the matching grinder in our Fiorenzato collection, and more tools around the puck and extraction in our Barista Equipment.
After tamping, it's worth looking at what happens around it. For even distribution before tamping, WDT tools come in two price ranges – straightforward and reliable in the Normcore range, or for anyone who wants more, in the Weber Workshops collection. For the last step before the machine, Puck Screens even out water flow – again affordable and reliable at Normcore, or in the finer Weber Workshops execution at Weber Workshops. There's no such thing as a lesser budget here – what matters in the end is what's in the cup.
Frequently asked questions
Which grinder does the Puqpress M4 fit?
The M4 is designed as a module to sit beneath the Fiorenzato F64 and F83 grind-by-weight grinders.
How much pressure does the M4 apply, and how long does tamping take?
Pressure can be set digitally from 10 to 30 kilograms in 1-kilogram steps, selectable across three tamping profiles. Tamping itself takes around 1.3 seconds.
Which portafilters fit the Puqpress M4?
The tamp diameter ranges from 53 to 58.3 mm, made for 58 mm portafilters including bottomless ones.
What's the difference between the M4 and the M3?
Both are modular automatic tampers from Puqpress, but built for different grinders: the M4 sits beneath the Fiorenzato F64 and F83 with a pressure range of 10 to 30 kilograms and three tamping profiles, while the M3 sits beneath the Mahlkönig E65S and E65S GBW with a pressure range of 5 to 30 kilograms and five tamping profiles. Which one fits depends first on the grinder you already have or plan to get.
Can I see the product before I buy it?
Yes. The Puqpress M4 is set up in our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b), so you can take a look at it in person, in your own time.
Roastery tip
For most people, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight from our own roastery pair best with an evenly tamped puck – full-bodied, aromatic, dense. If you're after maximum body without any acidity, there's Very Nutty, and for anyone curious about a fruit-forward cup, it's worth a look at Wild Peach – lively, with noticeable acidity, a discovery on the side. That's our recommendation from the roastery too, one of many possible ones.
