The shower holder sits at the top of the brew group and holds the shower screen in place. For the water to pass completely through the screen rather than around it, a gasket is needed at this point. It is small, it costs next to nothing, and when it starts to wear, people still look for the fault everywhere else first.
This gasket is the smaller of the two on the shower holder of the RE Doppia, part number R499908703. The second one is the medium gasket R499908702. On a machine that pulls hundreds of shots every day, it is a classic wear part.
When it is due
The gasket is due when an unusual amount of water remains in the group after the shot or pushes out sideways when unlocking. When the shot runs unevenly even though grind size, dose and tamping are right. When the shower screen no longer sits snugly and can be moved by hand. And quite simply whenever you have the group open anyway – at this price, a used gasket does not go back in.

Important for installation
The gasket sits in the brew group, an area that is under pressure and hot during operation. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions for this. The machine must be depressurised and cooled down before the group is opened, and the shower holder must then be tightened evenly again. In a hospitality business, this belongs in regular maintenance.
