The second gasket on the shower holder – and the one people forget the first time
The shower holder of the RE Doppia has two gaskets of different sizes. In our experience, anyone opening the group for the first time orders only one – and is then left with a half-dismantled group because the second one tore during removal. This is the medium one, part number R499908702; the other is the small gasket R499908703.
Its job is simple: it makes sure the brewing water goes through the screen and not around it. As long as it is elastic, it does this without any fuss. Once it hardens, a bypass forms and the extraction becomes uneven, even though nothing is wrong with the coffee.
When it's due
The gasket is due when it feels hard and deformed instead of elastic, when it shows cracks or impressions that no longer spring back, or when water escapes after the extraction somewhere it shouldn't. An unsettled, uneven extraction with otherwise unchanged settings is also a sign. And in any case whenever the group is open anyway.

Important for installation
The gasket sits in the brew group, which is hot and under pressure during operation. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions for this. The machine must be depressurised and cooled down before any work is done, and the shower holder must then be tightened evenly so that the gasket seals all the way round. In a business, this belongs in scheduled maintenance.

For service companies and for cafés with an RE Doppia. It's best to order both sizes right away – the price difference is minimal, the difference between finished and half-finished is not.

Our routine from Bern and Zurich – not a manufacturer specification, but our workshop practice: we put both gasket sizes together with the shower screen in a labelled bag and store it per machine type. Anyone who has once had to drive out for a second appointment because of a one-franc gasket will do the same afterwards. No returns
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, please check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
