Rocket spring for the coffee brew lever – so the lever returns on its own again
The brew lever on the Rocket brew group has a distinct character: you flip it over, feel the resistance, and when you move it back, it returns cleanly to its rest position. This return comes from a small spring in the valve beneath the lever.
If the spring weakens, the lever sticks or returns sluggishly. If a coil breaks, the return fails completely and the valve no longer closes reliably – visible when the group drips after the shot or doesn't vent at all. The spring is a wear part that gets replaced at every overhaul of the group.
When it's due
The lever no longer returns to its rest position on its own or stops halfway. The pressure point feels soft. After the shot, the group no longer vents cleanly or keeps dripping. When dismantled, the spring shows rust, a broken coil or is visibly shorter than a new one.

Important for installation
The spring sits in the brew group, an area that carries water under pressure at over 90 degrees Celsius. Before opening, the machine must be disconnected from the mains, depressurised and cooled down, and the replacement belongs in the hands of a qualified technician. We deliberately don't provide step-by-step instructions here. If the group is open anyway, it's worth replacing gaskets and valve parts at the same time.

The springs in the Rocket catalogue
We carry seven springs, and their names sound similar enough to mix them up. They are not interchangeable – if in doubt, go by the part number from your service documents, not by the name.
Four springs without a model series: A209904332 for the steam and water tap, C219900427 for the coffee brew lever – that is, this product, R299905958 and A999905754. For the last two, our documents name neither the installation location nor the machine.
Three springs from the TCA series: A219909449, the spring for steam and water on the Appartamento TCA, A219909448, the matching spring support and R019908932, the bushing spring.
None of our documents state the wire gauge, length or material of these springs. Send us your machine's serial number and we'll check the fit.

Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich: Before we open a group because of a sluggish lever, we first check whether the lever is simply gummed up. A backflush with cleaning powder and a few blank shots restore smooth operation more often than you'd think. Only if that doesn't help is it time for the spring. No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together.
