The cup tray of the R Cinquantotto
The cup tray closes off the top of the R Cinquantotto and uses the waste heat from the two boilers to preheat the cups. On a dual-boiler machine, this is more than cosmetic: a preheated cup doesn’t rob the espresso of its temperature in the first second.
The part number is A019906929, and it belongs to the same sheet-metal group as the side panel and back panel of the R Cinquantotto – the numbers sit right next to each other. The tray is usually replaced not because of a defect, but because scratches, dents or a brushed finish that has turned dull are bothersome.
When it’s due
The surface is scratched or dull and can no longer be polished back up. A dent gets in the way when you set cups down. Rust is starting to show on an edge. Or the tray no longer sits flat and rattles with every cup.

Important for installation
Beneath the tray are two boilers, hot lines and the electrics. Before removing it, the machine must be unplugged and completely cooled down – on a dual-boiler machine, this takes longer than you’d think. When putting it back on, make sure no line gets pinched. We deliberately don’t provide step-by-step instructions here.

For anyone who wants to freshen up the look of their R Cinquantotto, and for workshops doing refurbishments. If you’re replacing the cup rail at the same time, order both together – the rail is mounted on the tray.

From our workshop in Bern and Zürich
We don’t place the cups flat on the tray but at a slight angle – that way, leftover rinse water runs off and doesn’t leave a limescale ring on the metal. After a few months, you can clearly see the difference. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Afterwards, we test with preheated cups and Nutty Delight, with Cozy Chocolate for milk drinks, and with Very Nutty for something stronger. More in our coffee beans.

Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed on or test-fitted to a machine.
