A built-in scale only measures as well as it is mechanically suspended. If something rests somewhere it should not, the weight bypasses the load cell and the reading is no longer correct. This is exactly what this spacer screw prevents: it keeps the defined distance so that the load cell can work freely.
It is the original La Marzocco part made of brass, M4 with 8 millimetres, part number VITE4x8. Only this screw is supplied – we do not sell the load cell itself or its electronics online; those go through our service.
The scale shows jumping or drifting values even though it has just been calibrated. During service on the drip tray a spacer screw went missing or its thread was damaged. Or the brass has suffered from coffee and cleaning residues and can no longer be tightened to a defined point.

The scale sits inside the machine, in the immediate vicinity of electronics and water-carrying parts. Before any work, the machine is disconnected from the mains, depressurised and allowed to cool down. After any work on the suspension, the scale must be recalibrated – otherwise it will reliably weigh wrong. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here.
For service businesses that look after Brew Ratio machines and replace all small mechanical parts when overhauling the scale. Anyone with a drifting scale usually checks the mechanics too late – even though they are the cheapest part of troubleshooting.
The scale also includes the plastic cover for the scale, the plastic ring as drip guard and the grid with pins. For recalibration there is the calibration weight 100 g. Everything else under Original spare parts and La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
Workshop tip from Bern and Zurich
This is our routine, not a manufacturer specification: when a built-in scale acts up, we first check whether coffee grounds or a jammed grid are bridging the support somewhere – and only then the electronics. In nine out of ten cases it is the mechanics. And we calibrate after every intervention, even if it was “just” a screw. Meanwhile a pot of Nutty Delight is brewing – more under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a short message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
No. This is a brass screw. It belongs to the suspension of the scale, but is itself purely mechanical – the load cell and its circuit board are separate items and are handled through our service, not through the shop.
Because the item description does not name one. It belongs to machines with a Brew Ratio scale; we are happy to clarify which series that applies to in your case using the serial number.
We have no confirmed information on this. Count them when the machine is open and order the corresponding quantity – one screw is supplied.
Yes, that is our clear recommendation. Every intervention on the suspension changes the measurement. The calibration weight is linked above.
Yes. We have two locations: Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a short message and we will have it ready for you.
