A ring that diverts drips before they run into the scale
On Brew-Ratio machines, the machine weighs as you pull the shot. Directly underneath sits the measuring technology. This plastic ring fits around the scale and guides everything that misses – rinse water, last drips, milk splashes – outwards into the drip tray instead of downwards.
The ring is a wear part. It is taken out, rinsed and put back in every day. At some point it gets a crack, a notch or no longer sits flush – then the water finds its way through exactly there, and the reading starts to drift.
When it’s due
- The ring is cracked, notched or a corner is missing.
- It no longer sits flush all the way round and lets water through at one point.
- The plastic has warped and jams when you put it in.
- There is moisture or coffee residue under the ring.
- The surface is so rough and discoloured that it can no longer be wiped clean.

Who it’s for
For businesses that rely on the scale in the machine because their recipe depends on it. A cracked drip guard costs a few francs; a damp scale costs a service call.
What goes with it
Above the scale sits the plastic cover for the scale, and above that the grid with pins for Brew-Ratio machines. You’ll find more parts under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts and among the spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich: Once a week we lift out the drip guard and wipe dry underneath, even if everything looks clean on top. What collects there is never visible from the outside – until the scale starts to jump. That’s our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. To recalibrate, we pull a few shots, for example with Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. You’ll find the overview under coffee beans.
No returns
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick line and we’ll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an electronic part?
No. Pure plastic, with no cable and no sensor. We don’t sell the load cell itself online.
What’s the difference from the plastic cover?
The cover with the number F.1.081 sits over the scale. This ring with the number F.1.089 sits around the outside and diverts liquid away. They are two different parts that work together.
My scale shows fluctuating readings – will a new ring help?
If moisture has got under the ring or it sits warped, it may well. If the reading is still unsteady after drying and replacing, it’s not the ring – then the scale should be checked by a service technician.
Can I clean it in the dishwasher?
Better not. Heat and detergents make the plastic brittle and warp it. Warm water and a cloth are enough.
Can I look at the part at your shop?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
