A conical compression spring is wound in a cone shape so that its coils nest inside one another when compressed instead of stacking on top of each other. This makes it very compact in height, and it fits where a straight spring would have no room. In an espresso machine, a spring like this sits wherever something has to return quietly and reliably to its starting position.
Springs are wear parts. They work with every actuation, they often sit in a damp, warm environment, and at some point they give way. Then the component they are meant to push back no longer returns cleanly to its position – and the fault shows up in a completely different place from where the spring sits.
When the associated component no longer reliably returns to its starting position, when the spring is visibly shortened, deformed or corroded, or when it is exposed during a service anyway. For a part in this price range, a preventive replacement is almost always worthwhile – the labour time for a second disassembly costs many times more.
Our documentation lists the spring with the dimensions 0,7 x 10,6 x 10,6 mm, nickel-plated, under part number F.3.021.01 – without a model assignment and without stating which assembly it sits in. We don't claim anything we can't back up. Compare it with the number in your service documentation or the serial number of your machine, or write to us – we'll check it before you order.

For service workshops that find a worn-out spring during disassembly, and for anyone looking for a part number from service documentation who wants to source the matching original part in Switzerland.
Other springs in our range are the compression springs for the LEVA in large and small, the spring for the KB90 group head and the spring for the LEVA shower screen. A straight version is the compression spring 0,3 x 15 in stainless steel. Everything else under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts and service parts.
We measure the free length of a removed spring before throwing it away and compare it with the new one. A spring that is one millimetre shorter than the new part has already lost a good part of its preload – even if it looks flawless at first glance. That's our routine from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. Afterwards we test with Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. All roasts under coffee beans.
Service parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
Our documentation doesn't say, and we won't make anything up. Compare part number F.3.021.01 with your service documentation or write to us.

One spring is supplied per order. If you need several, order the corresponding quantity.
The nickel plating protects the spring against corrosion in the warm, damp environment of an espresso machine.
Yes, you can see it in person in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b).
