La Marzocco spring for the KB90 group head – the part that keeps the shower screen firmly seated
Inside the KB90 group head, a small spring keeps the shower screen and gasket under constant tension. As long as it retains its force, everything stays firmly in place. Once it weakens, the assembly develops play – the shower screen rattles during rinsing, and with a bottomless portafilter the extraction looks uneven because the water no longer arrives evenly everywhere.
A part costing just a few francs that you simply order along with every major service.
When it is due
When the shower screen or gasket has play. When the spring is bent, corroded or visibly shorter than a new one on removal. And routinely whenever the group is open for a gasket change anyway – the effort involved is the same.

Who it is for
For KB90 businesses that maintain their groups themselves, and for any workshop that wants to keep a few of these springs in stock. On multi-group machines you need one per group.
What goes with it
The same job calls for the shower screen with logo for KB90 and the group head gasket incl. anti-shock plates. For backflushing, the blind filter for KB90 with Puly Caff Plus cleaning powder. Everything else under La Marzocco accessories and spare parts.
Tip from our café
We always order small parts like this spring twice. Otherwise, a spring that drops into the bottom of the machine during reassembly and never turns up again puts a whole group out of action for days – and nobody wants to have to explain that in the middle of service. This is our workshop routine from Bern and Zurich, not a manufacturer specification. For dialling in afterwards, we use Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate for chocolatey notes and Very Nutty for maximum body. All roasts under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a short message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
How many do I need?
One per brew group. So two for a 2-group KB90.
How can I tell it is worn out?
By comparing it directly with a new spring: a fatigued spring is noticeably shorter and easier to compress.
Can I replace it myself?
Yes, if you are opening the group head for a gasket change anyway. Otherwise our service team takes care of it.
Does it fit the Linea or LEVA?
This spring is listed for the KB90. For other model series, we check the fit using the serial number.
Can I see the part in the showroom?
Our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) show a wide selection, but not our entire range – the display changes. Drop us a quick line at [email protected] before your visit, and we will check whether the product you have in mind is currently there.
