A valve does not seal at the sealing element alone, but through the interplay of gasket and seat. The seat is the precision-machined surface against which the sealing element is pressed. If it is flat and smooth, the valve holds. If it has a groove, a limescale ridge or a worn-in ring, even the best new gasket will no longer help.
This valve seat is made of stainless steel and is listed in the service documentation under part number F.3.007. It is the part you order second – namely when the overhaul with a new gasket has not held.
The valve keeps dripping even though the gasket and spring are new. Against the light, a circumferential ring or a groove is visible on the seat. The seat is corroded or attacked by limescale. In short: if the surface is no longer flat, it is replaced, not reworked.

The seat belongs to a pressurised valve. Work is carried out on a depressurised, cooled-down machine. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here. Important from practice: a new seat is always installed together with a new sealing element – an old, already worn-in gasket will imprint its mark into the fresh surface within weeks.
For service companies getting to the bottom of a stubbornly dripping valve, and for workshops that want to finish an overhaul the first time.
The same assembly includes the spring for the steam valve spindle F.3.005.01 and the O-ring for the steam valve spindle. We carry the sealing unit for the steam valve as B.2.010. Everything else under Accessories and spare parts La Marzocco and Original spare parts.
From our workshop
At our shops in Bern and Zurich, we check a valve seat with a fingernail before reaching for the magnifying glass. If the nail catches at any point, the surface is done for – you feel it faster than you see it. This is our routine, not a manufacturer specification. Once everything is tight, the test cup runs with Nutty Delight, rounder with Cozy Chocolate and stronger with Very Nutty; everything else under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or test-fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we will clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
The service documentation does not say, and we will not guess here. Send us the serial number and the position from your exploded view drawing, and we will check it.
We advise against it. A valve seat needs a defined geometry; reworked by hand, it rarely seals again.
We have no information on this. The specified material is stainless steel and the number is F.3.007.
Yes, always. A new seat with an old gasket will leak again in a short time.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Drop us a quick message beforehand and we will have the part ready for you.
