On the LEVA, steam is not controlled with a rotary knob but with a lever. So that it sits at the front of the machine, right where your hand looks for it, an extension is fitted between the valve chamber and the operating handle. It transmits every movement – and takes every knock dealt out by a milk jug or an elbow during service.
This item is the left version with part number C.1.344.SX. The right-hand one is C.1.344.DX and is a separate item.
The lever sits crooked or no longer reaches its usual end position. It has play that shows up not at the valve but in the extension. The mounting is worn out. The extension is bent – after a knock during service, that is the most common case. Or the surface is so damaged that it can no longer be kept clean in a hospitality business.

The extension sits on a steam-carrying fitting inside the machine. Only work on the machine when it is switched off, cooled down and depressurised. After reassembly, check that the valve opens and closes cleanly over the full lever travel – an incorrectly set extension lets the lever hit the housing before the valve is closed. We deliberately do not give step-by-step instructions here.
The two sides are mirror images and cannot be swapped. The part numbers carry the Italian abbreviation: SX for sinistra, meaning left, and DX for destra, meaning right.
If you're unsure, look at the machine from the front: left is left as you stand in front of it.
For businesses with a LEVA where a steam lever has developed play or become bent after years of use, and for workshops working with number C.1.344.SX from service documentation.
On the same assembly you'll find the Pin for the steam valve chamber, the Lever for the valve chamber, right and the Steam tap bushing 37 × 45 × 5. Everything else for the machine is under La Marzocco LEVA spare parts and in the Original spare parts section.
From our workshop
In Bern and Zurich we don't straighten a bent lever extension, we replace it – material that has been straightened once gives way again at the same spot, and on a steam lever you only notice that when your hand slips with a full jug. That's our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Until everything is up and running again, there's usually a cup: Nutty Delight, Cozy Chocolate or Very Nutty. More under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for your order and cannot be resold after installation or test fitting on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
SX stands for sinistra, Italian for left. DX stands for destra, meaning right. The two versions are mirror images and cannot be swapped.
We don't have a product image for this item. We'd rather show no image than a wrong one. Write to us if you need a photo before ordering – we'll gladly send you one from the workshop.
No. What you get is the extension. Lever, pin and valve are separate items.
We have no information on this, and we won't make any up. What is reliable is the number C.1.344.SX and the side.
Yes. We'll gladly show it to you in our Showroom in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b.
