Keeping the grounds at the front where they belong
The front cover closes off the grinder's coffee funnel at the front. It guides the freshly ground coffee into the outlet towards the portafilter and stops it from dusting out sideways while grinding. A part made of a few grams of plastic that decides whether your work surface is still clean after service.
You can tell its condition from how the grinder doses: if a fine ring of coffee grounds suddenly lies next to the portafilter, if a small cloud rises on the first grind, or if old coffee builds up under the cover and you can no longer get it out, it's time for a new one.
When it's due
Replace the cover if it is cracked, warped or chipped at the edges, if the locking tabs no longer hold and it vibrates while grinding, if coffee oil has soaked in permanently and it smells rancid, or if it has become cloudy and brittle after being cleaned with hot water.

Who it's for
For bars and businesses where the grinder runs all day and every gram that misses is visible, and for anyone who replaces the plastic parts at the outlet as part of a cleaning service. Swapping it takes just a few minutes and doesn't require taking the grinding mechanism apart.
What goes with it

From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
We take the plastic parts at the outlet out dry and brush them clean instead of holding them under hot water – heat makes them brittle, and that's exactly what usually breaks them. This is our routine, not a manufacturer's specification. To dial in afterwards, we grind a handful of Nutty Delight; for darker profiles we use Cozy Chocolate, for crema and body Very Nutty. You'll find them all under Coffee beans.
No returns
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on a machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
Which grinder is the cover for?
Our documentation only mentions the coffee funnel, not a grinder model. The only coffee funnel in our catalogue belongs to the Jay – but that doesn't prove the match. Send us the serial number of your grinder and we'll check.
Is the funnel gasket included?
No. The gasket C.2.085 is a separate item and is ordered separately.
What material is the cover made of?
We have no information on this, so we won't claim any. The only reliable reference is the part number C.2.087.
Can I replace it myself?
Yes. It sits on the outside of the funnel and is replaced without opening the grinding mechanism. Unplug the grinder first.
