The LEVA piston seals have to be pulled over an edge that is larger than their inner diameter. It can be done by hand – but almost always at the expense of the seal. This tool expands the seal in a controlled way and guides it into the groove without overstretching or nicking it. This version is for type 2 pistons.
Anyone who has ever taken a lever group apart knows the feeling when a freshly fitted seal leaks again after the first shot. Usually it was damaged during fitting – in a spot you can't see from the outside.
The tool is not a wear part but basic equipment. Order it when you overhaul a LEVA lever group for the first time, when your workshop has been improvising so far, or when new seals start leaking again after a short time – that is the most common sign that something is going wrong during fitting.

For service companies and workshops that look after LEVA machines, and for bars with their own in-house technicians. If you overhaul a lever group once a year, the tool has paid for itself after the first overhaul – just through the seals that stay intact.
For disassembly you need the puller for the piston, and for reassembly also the fitting tool for the seal. The parts themselves are the complete piston including sealing rings, the piston service kit and the piston rod guide ring. Everything else is in the LEVA spare parts section and under Spare parts.
From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
We briefly put the seals in hot water before fitting – when warm they are more pliable, and the tool has to expand them less. Afterwards we let the finished group stand for ten minutes before the first shot so that everything can settle. Both are our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Our first lever pull afterwards is a Nutty Delight; if you prefer it more chocolatey, take the Cozy Chocolate, if you want punch, the Very Nutty. You'll find all of them under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured to order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or send us a quick message and we'll clarify the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
Our documentation lists UT018 as a tool for type 2 piston seals but does not explain the designation any further. Send us the serial number of your LEVA and we'll clarify before you order which piston is fitted.
No. The tool is what is supplied. Seals, pistons and service kits are separate items.
For disassembly, yes – this tool is intended for fitting the seals, not for removing the piston.
We have no information on this, nor on the material. The only reliable reference is the part number UT018.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Send us a quick message saying which part you need and we'll have it ready for you.
