Piston rings are wear parts with little tolerance. When they are fitted, they are briefly expanded – too far, and they lose their spring tension; fitted twisted, and they bed in unevenly. You can't see either on the finished piston, but you can feel it in the lever and in the shot.
With this tool, the rings slide into their grooves without being pulled over edges. The piston then runs evenly, and the rings last as long as they should.
When replacing the piston rings, during a complete piston service, and when the lever becomes stiff at one point or water appears on the piston rod after a shot.

From our workshop in Bern and Zurich
After removal, we lay the old rings side by side on a cloth and look at them before throwing them away: one-sided wear reveals a warped cylinder, even wear is normal. That saves troubleshooting next time – our routine, not a manufacturer requirement. Then a test shot, usually with a Nutty Delight, sometimes with the Cozy Chocolate or the Very Nutty. The full selection is under Coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are procured specifically for each order and cannot be resold once they have been installed or test-fitted on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a quick message and we'll check the fit together. Your rights in the event of defective goods remain unaffected.
In our documentation, UT015 is listed for fitting the piston rings of the LEVA; UT016 is the conical tool for fitting piston seals. Which number your service requires is stated in the service documentation for your machine.
No. Only the tool is supplied. Rings, seals and service kits are separate items.
Our documentation lists it for the LEVA without any further restriction. Send us the serial number if you're unsure.
We have no information on this, so we don't claim any. The only reliable reference is the part number UT015.
