You place a cup or a jug on the scale, and it switches itself on and jumps to zero. The first drops fall, and the timer starts without you pressing a button. When you take the cup away at the end, the scale shows you how long the extraction took and the ratio between grounds and drink. The Cube 2.0 by MHW-3BOMBER is one of our coffee scales for espresso and filter.
In smart mode the scale distinguishes between solid coffee grounds and flowing liquid. It remembers the weight of the grounds, starts the timer as soon as liquid flows and shows the ratio of drink to grounds at the end. In normal mode you use it as a classic scale with timer. If you place more than 100 g on the scale, it switches on automatically and tares. It weighs from 0.3 to 2000 g, displayed in 0.1 g steps.
The Cube 2.0 runs on a built-in 1500 mAh battery and charges via USB-C. The charging cable is included. In our experience a battery is handy at the coffee bar: no changing batteries, and the scale can easily come along to the dining table for filter coffee.
A silicone mat that you place on the weighing surface is included. It protects the scale from hot jugs and cups. We recommend always placing hot vessels on the mat and never directly on the scale.
The Cube 2.0 measures 124 × 124 mm and is 22 mm high. Whether it fits under your espresso machine depends on the distance between drip tray and spout. It is best to measure quickly before you order.

For anyone who brews espresso to a recipe and wants to keep an eye on dose, time and yield. For pour-over in the morning, when timer and weight at a glance are all you need. And for anyone new to using a scale at the coffee bar who likes to keep things simple.
Tip from our café: With espresso, weigh not only the drink but also the grounds. With Cozy Nut we like to start with 18 g of grounds and around 36 g in the cup and adjust from there. We like Nutty Delight a little shorter, at around 32 g, because it tastes even nuttier that way. For filter coffee with Wild Peach, 1:16 is a good start, that is 15 g of coffee to 240 g of water. That is our recommendation, one of many.
You will find more models under coffee scales, for example the Timemore Black Mirror Basic 2. For milk drinks, the MHW-3BOMBER Milk Pitcher 5.0 (600 ml) is a good match. All products of the brand are under MHW-3BOMBER, freshly roasted beans under coffee beans.
In smart mode the scale recognises whether coffee grounds or liquid land on it. It starts the timer automatically as soon as liquid flows and shows time, weight and ratio after the extraction.
The scale displays in 0.1 g steps and weighs from 0.3 to 2000 g. That makes it suitable for an espresso dose as well as for a jug of filter coffee.
