In an espresso machine, springs are the parts that seal nothing and transport nothing, but do just one thing: they push something back to where it belongs. A valve plug onto its seat, a lever into its rest position, a plunger upwards. As long as they hold their force, nobody notices they are there.
When a spring weakens, it never shows up as a spring problem, but as something else: a valve no longer closes cleanly, a lever no longer returns on its own, something drips somewhere. This item is the spring with part number A999905754.

Length, wire thickness, diameter and material are not given in the documentation for this number, and the item name mentions neither the model series nor the installation location. So we do not enter anything we cannot back up. This item is ordered by part number A999905754, not by eye. If you have the number from service documentation, you are in the right place; if you are holding a spring in your hand and do not know which one it is, write to us.
Exactly where this spring sits is not documented – hence this precautionary note: springs in espresso machines are mostly found in valves, i.e. in pressurised assemblies. Switch off the machine, unplug it, and let it cool down and depressurise. We deliberately do not provide step-by-step instructions.
For service technicians and workshops who have the number from an exploded view. For everyone else: clarify the number first, then order.
We carry seven springs, and their names sound similar enough to mix them up. They are not interchangeable – if in doubt, go by the part number from your service documentation, not by the name.
Four springs without a model series: A209904332 for the steam and water valve, C219900427 for the coffee brew lever, R299905958 and A999905754 – that is, this product. For the last two, our documentation names neither the installation location nor the machine.
Three springs from the TCA series: A219909449, the spring for steam and water on the Appartamento TCA, A219909448, the matching spring support and R019908932, the bushing spring.
For none of these springs does our documentation give wire thickness, length or material. Send us your machine's serial number and we will check the fit.
From our workshop in Bern and Zürich
When we open an assembly with a spring, we lay the old spring next to the new one before we install anything – side by side you see the loss of length immediately, which you would never spot on the removed spring alone. This is our routine, not a manufacturer requirement, and it has already stopped us from throwing away an intact spring and reinstalling a fatigued one.
After that, we do a test brew. Nutty Delight is our benchmark because it reveals irregularities immediately; Cozy Chocolate is the mild alternative, Very Nutty the strong one. Find them all under coffee beans.
Returns excluded
Original spare parts are excluded from exchange and return. They are sourced specifically for each order and cannot be resold after installation or a test fit on the machine. So before ordering, check the model, year of manufacture and serial number of your machine – or drop us a line and we will clarify the fit together. Your statutory rights in the case of defective goods remain unaffected.
The documentation for this number does not say, and we will not guess. If you have the number from service documentation, it is unambiguous – then the item is right.
That is not documented either. Please order by part number and not by eye, otherwise it will not fit in the end.
The model series is not stated for this number. Send us your machine's serial number and we will check.
No. A spring is a purely mechanical component.
Yes. We are in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zürich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. Bring your machine's serial number and we will put the part next to it.
