A short run, an even hum – and the grounds fall into the funnel so fine and fluffy that they almost distribute themselves.
Nobody needs a spare part before it's necessary. You'll want this one when you notice that the grinder runs hotter and the grounds no longer fall as loosely as they used to. Whether you change them or carry on is your decision – we respect both.
Coffee contains over 800 aroma compounds – more than wine. Which of them end up in the water is decided at the surface of the particles, and their size and evenness come directly from the cutting edge. If it's sharp, you get a narrow range of particle sizes and the water meets the same resistance everywhere. If it becomes blunt, it crushes more than it cuts, and the range spreads out.
In practice, you notice it because you keep readjusting the grind to hold the same shot time. A fresh pair resets that point. Burr sets remain like car engines: subjective, and there is no best one. Our opinion is one of many.
Important with this size: 50 millimetres is not a standard that fits everywhere. Outer dimension, inner diameter, height and hole pattern all have to match – that's why all four dimensions are in the table.
| Outer diameter | 50 mm |
|---|---|
| Inner diameter | 30 mm |
| Height | 7.5 mm |
| Mounting | 3 mounting holes |
| In the box | 1 pair (two burrs) |
| Brand | ECM |
| Item number | R152 |
| Compatibility | ECM Casa and Anfim coffee grinders (manufacturer's information). Other 50 mm grinders use different dimensions – please check beforehand. |
For anyone using an ECM Casa or an Anfim grinder who wants to refresh the cut. If you run a 50 mm grinder from another brand, check the four dimensions in the table first – a 50 mm outer diameter alone says nothing about the fit. No budget is merely a starting point: a well-maintained grinder delivers reliably for years, regardless of what it cost.
You'll find grinders of all sizes under coffee grinders, more parts under coffee grinder accessories and spare parts. To keep the grinder clean: machine and grinder cleaning. And because a new cut only shows when you weigh: for anyone who wants an affordable, precise scale, Normcore is a good fit; if you'd like an app and flow-rate display, take a look at Acaia.
The manufacturer lists the ECM Casa and Anfim coffee grinders. The burrs measure 50 mm outside and 30 mm inside, are 7.5 mm high and have three mounting holes. Because 50 mm burrs have different inner diameters and hole patterns depending on the brand, please check these four dimensions against your grinder – or send us the item number at [email protected].
No. Those grinders also use 50 mm burrs, but the dimensions and hole pattern differ. We carry a separate pair for them – if in doubt, just ask and we'll tell you the right one.
The grinder runs longer for the same dose, gets warmer, and the grounds come out clumpier. Often you keep readjusting the grind over several weeks without hitting your usual shot time.
Yes. With fresh burrs the zero point shifts, so you set the grind size again and let the first doses break them in. We work by brew ratio, with 1:2 as a starting point.
Yes. In our showrooms in Bern (Gerberngasse 44) and Zurich Oerlikon (Hagenholzstrasse 50b) you can see the part in person and go through with us whether it suits your setup.
2 to 4 working days to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Click and Collect in Bern and Zurich Oerlikon is also possible.
After changing burrs, it's worth using a bean you know well – that way you can pick out the difference. From our coffee roastery, Cozy Chocolate and Nutty Delight run through full-bodied, dense and round. If you're after maximum body without any acidity, stay with Very Nutty; if you're looking for a fruity experience, Wild Peach lets you discover a lively peach note. That's our recommendation – one of many. Any other bean you enjoy works just as well.
