One wipe across the stainless steel, and yesterday's haze disappears without leaving a single streak behind.
Steam condenses, milk splashes dry on, fingerprints gather on the handle. Polished stainless steel shows all of it mercilessly. A microfibre cloth measuring 400 x 400 millimetres takes it away again in two movements – slightly damp or completely dry, without a single chemical agent.
The effect is mechanical, not chemical. The very fine fibres reach into the barely visible recesses of the surface and lift residues out instead of dissolving and spreading them. That's why no haze is left behind, why no cleaning agent is needed, and why nothing gets onto your machine that doesn't belong there.
For the housing, this is the gentlest option. Over time, abrasive sponges leave fine scratches on polished stainless steel that can no longer be polished away. The cloth is durable and hard-wearing and can be used again and again.
ECM offers both as separate products, and they have different jobs. The polishing cloth is explicitly intended for the stainless steel housing of espresso machine and espresso grinder – for shine without streaks. The barista cloths are the cloths for working with, and we stock them too.
Whether you need both is up to you. A kitchen towel does the job too, and nobody has to own any of this. Our opinion is one of many: if you have a polished machine, you'll notice the difference after the first week.

For anyone with a machine or grinder in polished or brushed stainless steel – whatever the brand. The cloth doesn't know what brand is underneath and works equally well on every front.
No budget is just a beginning here. Keeping a machine looking good costs little and brings a bit of joy every morning. You can buy the ECM polishing cloth online in Switzerland or take a look at it in Bern and Zurich.
The outside is only one half. On the inside, it's the rhythm that counts: backflush daily without detergent, and with detergent every 50 shots or so, which takes about five minutes. You'll find the right products for it under machine and grinder cleaning.
If you're fine-tuning anyway: among scales, Normcore is compact, precise and affordable, while Acaia offers an app, flow-rate display and Bluetooth. And the same choice applies to the tamper: Normcore for the affordable route, Weber Workshops for the step above.
ECM offers both as separate products. The polishing cloth is intended for the stainless steel housing of machine and grinder and gives shine without streaks. The barista cloths are the cloths for working with and are also available from us.
No. The cloth works mechanically and is used slightly damp or dry. Chemical additives are explicitly not needed.
Yes. It's a microfibre cloth for stainless steel surfaces and therefore independent of the brand of machine or grinder.
400 x 400 millimetres, made of hard-wearing microfibre and designed for long use.
Yes. You can see our range in person in Bern at Gerberngasse 44 and in Zurich at Hagenholzstrasse 50b. If you order online, delivery takes 2 to 4 working days throughout Switzerland and to Liechtenstein.
A clean machine is half the morning, the bean is the other half. Nutty Delight and Cozy Chocolate are our main recommendation for dense, aromatic cups with nut and chocolate. Very Nutty is for maximum body without any acidity, Wild Peach for anyone who'd like to discover something fruity. Our recommendation, one of many – any other bean works just as well.
